Golden State Warriors forward Andrew Wiggins was denied Friday in his quest for a religious exemption by the NBA to San Francisco’s vaccine requirement.

Wiggins has steadfastly refused to get the vaccine, according to a report this week from the San Francisco Chronicle. Since the city requires vaccination for everyone at large, indoor gatherings — such as basketball games — the veteran forward will not be able to play in any home games if he remains resistant to getting the shot. It’s possible he won’t be able to play at a number of road arenas that also require vaccination.

Yup. The NBA refused to mandate players get vaccinated.

Just like Biden hasn't officially or legally mandate people be vaccinated. He left the dirty work to employers, schools, medical facilities, etc.

And his coach, Steve Kerr is an authoritarian liberal nut job.
I’ll bet he sells Wiggins for a bag of balls. Hoping the Knicks can get him cheap... But then there’s the NYC mandate..lol.

"I’ll bet he sells Wiggins for a bag of balls."

Wiggins is on the hook to earn $65 million total the next two seasons. Selling him won't come cheap to the Warriors. They'll need to add young talent and/or draft picks to move him.

That’s a nice paycheck for playing half the games. Hope he holds out.

“rumor is it is expected that Wiggins will be vaccinated.”

See no reason for him to back down now. He’s taking a major stand.

Yup. Kerr is a leftard douchebag. His daddy got killed by terrorists in Beirut and he still blames the US.

Wiggins has made some statements in the past indicating if he couldn’t get an exemption from the vaccine, either from the league or SF (both have denied his request), then he could take the jab. We’ll see if he changes his mind.

I’d ask for a trade based upon breach of contract with the NBA and violation of interstate commerce laws for the federal and state governments. He won’t have to play anywhere as the NBA has denied him the span of his contract. Players are not employees of the NBA directly, but are “considered” employees only because there is a union involved.

Furthermore, with the player not being able to use his business to inflate his popularity with his play, it is going to hamper sales of his jersey sales costing him and the rest of the players in the league money.

“The jersey sales inflate the total amount of money in the league, and players receive a proportion of that (44.75% approximately, with some variance).”

And that is a violation of interstate commerce laws so every player in the league is effected. And they should be represented by the union to correct the inconsistency. Either treat the home team players consistent with the visiting team, or get sued. Simple.

Seemingly a good man...
Even if he loses part of his pay for not playing the games, he probably still earns more than the minimum wage.../s

So SF won’t allow any nba players to play there unvaxxed?

Sounds racist. Lol 😆

I see it’s only the warriors so good luck keeping the players 6 ft apart during the game. It’s obviously a hoax for control and has nothing to do with health.

What happens once OSHA gets its claws into us?

In this case, nothing. Too many racial overtones. The "third rail " of politics

There’s only one reason the NBA refuses to force everyone to get jabbed and that is because they don’t want BLM to target them for harassment and protests

I really don’t like this religious exemption angle. It’s never going to work with leftist governments or companies. When are visible people going to fight it for the mere fact that they shouldn’t have to take it for no other reason than they don’t want to and shouldn’t be forced to

If that’s the case then he should probably sue the team first, and then let them bring the city/state in as a third party defendant.

A religious exemption will hold up under legal scrutiny better than any other basis for rejecting a mandate by an employer or government. It’s so all-encompassing under the U.S. Constitution that it has served as the basis for the Amish to be exempted from Social Security and Medicare, various religious groups to be exempted from compulsory education laws, Indian tribes to be permitted to use substances that are categorized as narcotics under the CDC for ceremonial purposes, etc.
