Still waiting on my fig tree. They now have some in stock but I want black figs because the fruit is sweet and the plant is better suited for pruning with no ill effects. They said another week.

Oshk! Good luck! Do not let the fig tree get tall, maybe 3-4 feet. (Too tall and the wind will always be blowing it down!) Leave 3-5 branches around the central leader and that will keep it more productive and easier to manage! Figs will form on 1st year branches so you need to prune them back yearly to keep it productive. I say this, but then you have a nursery and its in Spain so just go to them for the best assistance!

I usually have 3-4 figs a day but the day I picked these I had a small plate full! (Done with the low end camera that I keep for taking UFO pictures! :)

My favorite varieties are Portuguese Preto, French/Spanish Bordissot Griese, Maltese Beauty, and Italian Nero 600, all dark figs! (All potted and all come inside in the winter.) (I suspect you will be making some changes to your trip to the Carnary islands next year! Sad!)
