@ post 17 - agree. When I think about how many may live in ‘the sticks’ and how many of the very elderly may be simply tired and are peace with what may come (pneumonia is the old folks best friend mentality) I suppose some of the very elderly come to realize no one gets out of here alive.

Deaths today reflect the new cases that developed a few weeks back, when cases were peaking.

Since then, new cases began to drop, and are now starting to plunge, like a typical Delta Wave - fast on the way up, and fast on the way down.

The new weekly chart due out tomorrow will reflect the more steeply accelerating drop. This last week has really been significant.

I know deaths lag behind cases. I just don’t think we are through with this yet.

If we don’t wipe out the vast reservoirs of virus in the unvaccinated, we are still headed for a lot of trouble. Those who are getting it for the first time will spread it to those whose vaccine is declining in protection.

The vaccine effect on lower case fatality rates in highly vaccinated, vs, low vaccination countries is dramatic - as it is in the same countries, before and after mass vaccination.

These COVID vaccines have already saved over a million lives.

In the COVID era, all information should be verified. There’s just too much disinformation being touted as fact - both by those who support and do not support vaccinations.

There is likely no realistic possibility of wiping out the reservoirs of COVID-19 - its endemic pretty much everywhere.

Those who have been vaccinated will fare much better than then they would have without the vaccine, when they do encounter the virus.

People (at least in the USA) can protect themselves if they want, or just take their chances with the virus as is.

The Moderna CEO just today estimated that in about a year, the increased supply of vaccines, and Delta burning through the population all around the world, would bring this pandemic down to just a background level (like cold/flu).
