My kid was assualted, and fought back. Both he and the perp got the same - a few days suspended.
It was like you said. Supposed to curl up and wait for a teacher.
Later that year he was assualted again, and did not fight back. I think he felt shame and cowardice from that, but he got off; he did not fight back.

Tag team beatdowns and kicking people on the ground were around since I went to HS in the early 90’s.

There’s a term for that type of fighting that I know goes back fifty years. It’s not a new thing but seems to be becoming much more widespread with woke acceptance and police condoning it.
