Maybe I'm just strange but I can appreciate hearing "Hey Joe" by Jimi Hendrix after listening to Beethoven's 6th Symphony.
It doesn't have to be all one or all the other.

If a Jazz station refused to play Rap, would that be racist?

I was subjected to Nigel Kennedy’s “Four Season’s”. Ot’s okay, but he stuck in this purposeful dissonance between two of the seasons (I forget which ones) that was VERY overdone.
Mr. Kennedy has enough money to disregard his audience. Maybe it is time to give another conductor a shot.

I always thought Nigel Kennedy tried too hard to be edgy and cool.

Violinist Nigel Kennedy has pulled out of a concert at the Royal Albert Hall with only days to go after accusing the radio station Classic FM of preventing him from performing a Jimi Hendrix tribute. Now they know how many holes it takes to fill the Albert Hall.

Did they hire him to do that?
No?
Then play what they requested or go home...

I really like Nigel.
A lot of classical purists don’t.
He is a strange cat...
His Vivaldi four seasons is my favorite.
He uses harmonics in a way most don’t.
Yes,very flashy player wears suits with holes in them.
He is a weirdo artist.

They can play some Four Seasons, too. Walk Like a Man, Sherry, Dawn. It’s all good.

I like both kinds of music, but at different times.
If I wanted to hear Vivaldi’s 4 Seasons, I would be very upset to have paid my ticket only to hear some screeching acid rock. The genres are VERY different and not at all interchangeable. If the violinist can’t understand that, then it was for the best that he cancel his little
experimental exercise in inclusivity. Count me out!

Wonder if he plays “Making Plans for Nigel” on violin.

I grew up in the sixties. Nobody “segregated” Jimi more than the black community. You couldn’t pay them to listen to him. It wasn’t “black” enough for them.
Now that he’s recognized for the influential muscician that he was they want to claim him.

I’ll bet Voodoo Child would sound amazing if performed with a full orchestra. I’d love to hear that one.

Only a totally inept musician would not understand that classic 60s hard rock is NOT classical music.
