Based on my faith in our criminal justice system, if I were him and the last time I saw her was after a fight and she stormed out and ran in to the desert, I’d be somewhere in Mexico by now letting my hair grow out and learning Spanish.

That’s my assumption too.
The arguing continued, she demanded to be put out - and he did. In the middle of nowhere.
He’s really steamed, and even if he calmed down and went back an hour later, finding the spot and her is impossible. So he gave up, freaked out and came home. Now, he’s on the run.
Only problem with that theory is, why didn’t she stay by the road and find help?
I kinda agree with you....I’d have to leave the US for a while.
But one odd factor here...both of these people were emotionally charged-up, potential mental cases, and I might suggest they were on some type of medication.
This ‘I-want-to-RV-America-to-be-free’ syndrome is reaching some stage where I think there’s ten-thousand of people (under the age of 25) on this kind of ‘trip’.
