He comes across as someone who would bend under the slightest real pressure.
Boys his age today aren’t raised to be very smart or self-reliant - though they are all raised with enormous and unearned self-esteem.
Wherever he is, he’s not going to last long on his own.

Indeed. There are many facts of this case that are unknown or not publicly released. Yet, in no way has Laundrie appeared to have handled himself well in the last month. He could be guilty of absolutely nothing, but his actions portray a very thoughtless man. Leaving his girlfriend thousands of miles from her home, regardless of what he knew of her condition is unforgivable to most decent people. And he left with her van!
