They knew their son came home alone. We know that. I would guess by their refusal to respond to Gabby’s pleas for information they knew much more.
Again, their son was not a little kid, he was an adult - he was never named a suspect, and he had a lawyer advising him.
How do you know that he told his family anything at all about what happened?
I’m tired of going round in circles about this. The authorities are taking care of it far better than we amateur sleuths can.
