Tell Me About Your Ride

Yesterday, I inadvertantly hijacked a Bible Thread in the Religion Forum to talk about my Motorcycle. Since I started riding in late Autumn of 1972, next year will mark my 50th Anniversary on two wheels. At the time, women were not as avid bikers as they are today. My Present Bike is pictured above, and is a 93FXR in "Sapphire Blue". I bought it at Hampton Roads Harley Davidson on the way home from attending Rolling Thunder. I traded in my Sportster and did the 700 mile ride home on that beautiful bike. From the VIN, we have ascertained that she was born in the York, PA Plant sometime in June 1992, so next year, "Blue" will be thirty. Blue and I have done 8 Rolling Thunder Rallies together, one Daytona, Blue Ridge Parkway, The Colonial Triangle, Laconia and the Kangamangus Highway, Alligator Alley and Florida's Gulf Coast, The Florida Keys, I95 the whole way, and the Appalachians in West Virginia (Monongahela State Forest and Blackwater Falls). We have gone through Hurricanes, Tornadoes, and Flash Floods together. I'm posting this thread so we can share our stories without having to hijack a Bible Thread LOL!

I should have specified that I don’t have a problem with people naming their bikes after females, I just don’t understand it; but I do if the rider is female. And Blue is an apt unisex name. Ride on! FReep on! Keep the sunny side up, and enjoy the ride!

When I bought my 198O 1100 GSRS and modified her as much as you could I was shocked at the handling differences

I had a GPZ and early Honda RR after that and wrapped her up...

I was tempted to buy a more conventional road bike later in life like a BMW maybe but my rib is adamant

My Sprint was primer red! Learned all (more than I ever wanted too) about helicoils from that basket of bolts. But I learned my lesson and managed to sell it, then after learning a valuable lesson, turned around and picked up a basket full of a Lambretta scooter, which I had for a dozen years; Complete with hack! Then small Ducati’s (160 & 260)... and other Euro and Nippon machines if various sizes.

But that HD Sprint, was a messed up.
