The mother of missing Long Island woman Gabby Petito said her daughter seemed “OK” before she vanished — though she hinted that there could’ve been trouble brewing.
Petito, 22, last spoke to her mom over FaceTime around Aug. 25 while on a tour of national parks out west in a converted van with her beau, Brian Laundrie.
“She seemed OK to me at the time, other than I don’t know where the relationship was going with the boyfriend,” her mother, Nichole Schmidt, told news station KSL-TV.

yeah Ive seen other cases where someone who has access to the victims phone ends up sending text messages saying “Hey all is well talk to you later” when in reality that person is already dead
There’s a French movie from a number of years ago starring the lovely Melanie Laurent in which she receives letters purportedly from her missing twin brother but... (spoiler alert) the letters are actually written and mailed by her parents who didn’t have the heart to tell her that her brother had died in accident.
This is very strange. It’s odd, because they looked young and happy. But of course you never know, and his behavior is certainly not encouraging.
How about a DNA test?

Reminds me of the guy who took his wife and kids “camping”. She didn’t come back. He eventually killed both his sons and himself setting the house on fire.
I listen to a “ton” of true crime podcasts .... this scenario just fits right in with so many you hear.
Sadly, I believe he’s responsible for her disappearance & she’s not coming home alive. She’s over a cliff or dumped/buried in the wilds somewhere. I just hope she can be recovered so her folks at least have that measure of peace, being able to bury her properly.
And nobody has figured out it’s the boyfriend yet? He’s back in Florida with an attorney. This is not hard to figure out.

We will never know.
Without a body or a confession will be hard to get him for anything. They will need to trace everywhere the phone was pingable. Then look where it stopped.
This video was posted August 19th - just days before her disappearance.
It could also be that she dumped him and took off on her own and he’s pizzed so just went home and now doesn’t want to get blamed if she does something stupid and gets dead. Its possible he doesn’t know where she is. Or maybe she took off with some other guy.
Or maybe she dumped him and he killed her. 😐

They were traveling in HER vehicle. It’s doubtful she would leave him and let him have the van.

Police in Utah responded to an “incident” involving missing Long Island native Gabby Petito and boyfriend Brian Laundrie about two weeks before she was last seen — but no arrests were made and no criminal charges were filed as a result.
Moab Chief of Police Bret Edge said an unidentified person called in “an incident” involving the couple on August 12, according to Fox News.
“Officers conducted an investigation and determined that insufficient evidence existed to justify criminal charges,” Edge told the outlet.
The nature of the incident was unclear.
