That itself is not a valid argument against the claim, since the argument as I understand it is not that masking makes one dumb, but that "regular COVID 19 mask wearing increases risk of mental retardation," the latter being a relative term and can just mean a hindrance, and to confirm this negative effect a long-term study of similar groups, masked and unmasked, would need to be done.

The brightest kids in the room are still the brightest kids in the room but they are not as quick, alert, clear minded and vibrant, etc., with the masks as they are without. They still have more brain power than the less gifted. Before you call this study bovine excrement, you must compare the performance of each child with and without the mask to determine whether or not this study is BE.
