You’re not paying attention. the Video clearly shows that he’s aware of the dude in the back seat, and he orders him to step out of the vehicle. What he didn’t see before the perp got out of the car was the weapon.

Oh, I'm paying attention, don't you worry. More attention than that deputy paid, anyway. I meant to say "the armed guy" in the back seat. I'm not even a cop and I would have seen it, guaranteed.

As it is, I'm glad the only dead guy was the bad guy. That doesn't happen often enough.
