So the Chicago police dept is exempt. That's cool.

In the second link it lists "Chronic pulmonary disease" so that must be the CPD.

COPD is Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease.

I have no clue of the difference.

CPD is a more broad term. COPD is an obstructive lung disease caused by smoking. There are restrictive lung diseases which would also fall under CPD, such as asbestosis, silicosis or lung cancer.

COPD is a subset of CPD, so CPD covers other kinds of disorders as well as COPD.
