True, if 90% of the population dies, and no one has A/C or heating.

Nope. Not even close.
I have solar on my home. And it makes 70% of the power I consume. But that doesn't include my gas appliances nor my car (I don't have an EV). And I live in Alabama where I get plenty of sunshine.
Is it good for me? Yep. Is it something that can be done everywhere with good results. Nope.

SURE, and the Chevy Volt was going to revolutionize America.
Sure, Gotcha. And that Galveston Hurricane 121 years ago was caused by what?

“. . . one that would require massive changes in U.S. policy and billions of dollars in federal investment . . .”
As long as it is only federal investment and will not cost taxpayers or ratepayers anything - what’s not to like?

Made to order government garbage. But having heaved up this load, they can now refer to it in the future as if it’s a real thing.
To: Olog-hai
That represents half the homes having no power at all, basically.

You are correct. My new house has solar included, and we are in Phoenix, which is even sunnier than Alabama. To the solar's credit, I do generate more electricity than I consume in air conditioning during peak usage hours, but I am including a snapshot below of the net. The part below the line is when I am making more than I am using. It isn't close. And solar is zilch at night, so we will need something better than current battery technology for night time.

When we get to 100% solar/wind, we’ll starve because there won’t be any ground left to plant in. It will all be covered by panels and turbines.
