The secret US Army operation to dispose of the bodies of the war criminals executed at Nuremberg.
Nuremberg Executions 1946 - What Happened to the Bodies? 10mins
The author, Mark Felton, is an avid reporter/investigator of WWII history and his history videos are thoroughly researched and remarkable to watch.
Iirc, they put them in coffins IDed as GI’s, had them cremated, and dumped the ashes in the river. Short name, starts with A, like Ashi or something.
Mark Felton on youtube is one of the very few I subscribe to. I still remember when only had 50K subscribers. His WW2 videos are the best aside from the History Guy or Dark Docs.
Do they need to be replaced?
I like the idea of the ashes ending up in a river, because that is what the Nazis did to the cremated jews.
That was poetic justice. Also, they did not want the Nazi criminals to have any burial site, tombstone or anything. Remember their crimes but erase them as persons.
I just remembered reading a story one time about when the British captured Himmler. He subsequently committed suicide shortly after. The officer in charge ordered a senior enlisted to dispose of the body in a remote place. He was to take no one with him and was never to reveal where Himmler was buried.
