Vanity - Prayer Request For Son with Covid
self | 9/5/2012 | Self

Posted on 09/05/2021 7:34:16 PM PDT by 21twelve

26-year old son taken to ER with Covid - please pray for him. Healthy, fit conservative Christian. Got Covid last Saturday and confirmed on Monday. He lives nearby and he said he was doing okay.

Checked in on him mid-week with some food and talked with him through the window and said he was about the same. He tried to take the ivermectin and other vitamins that I gave him on Saturday but he couldn't keep them down. Dropped by this morning with some more stuff and said he was a little worse but he would be okay. I asked him if he wanted to come home with us so we could take care of him and he said "maybe later this week if I don't get better".

His girlfriend (recovered quickly from the same bout of Covid) went over later and into his apartment and said his lips were blue. My wife ran over with an oxygen meter and it said 78%!! Hopefully it was wrong, but I don't know. They took him to the ER and he walked in. They started giving him oxygen and now waiting on xrays. I'm heading down there shortly.

Anyway - very scary. But we know that he loves the Lord so that is a real help. But please pray for his strength and the wisdom of his doctors and our son and us as we may need to make decisions that will be difficult.

Does your son have any learning disabilities, such as dyslexia or ADHD, or any other disability? If so, he’s entitled to have a patient advocate with him in the hospital according to ADA rules. Look into that if necessary.

Still praying for Cody and your family!

On reading his post again, it sounds like Cody’s parents both had brief limited contact with him. Nobody rode with him in the same car though, so hopefully they’ll be fine.

My wife has been keeping in touch with our son Cody (named after BUFFALO Bill, not Wild Bill! oops). He said he is doing better. They have him on the nose tube for oxygen and don’t want him talking (or eating!?) as he needs to breathe through his nose. But he doesn’t know what his oxygen numbers are.

I texted him to be more proactive about that stuff so he/we can make better decisions as things move along. But I guess it is encouraging that he is “just” on the nose tube and not a full face mask. I’m guessing they are giving him IV for nourishment.

My wife is listed as an emergency contact and spoke with the doctor last night. She is an emergency contact for some neighbors and those doctors keep her informed about everything, so hopefully she can open up the lines of communication more.

My wife was outside our son’s open apartment door for a few minutes with a mask on. But he was driven by his girl friend to the ER with my wife following. Had another brief contact from the other side of the car with him while wearing her mask. But - then she and the girlfriend went to an outside restaurant to eat after they had him settled into the ER (they had to stay in the lobby).

My wife said they stayed apart from each other while eating. But she is concerned as the girlfriend had Covid (starting about 11 days ago). She asked the girlfriend to get tested again today and my wife is staying to herself for now. But that might be enough to request the Regeneron antibody infusion so I will have her check with her doctor tomorrow about that.

I’ve said from the beginning how this Covid is so strange how people react to it so differently. I know 90+ year old people that had it and it was minor, and healthy younger people that got it bad. The girlfriend had minor symptoms for 3 days and then no symptoms at all!

Cody does have some minor asthma problems but only needs to use an inhaler sparingly. Hopefully that doesn’t complicate his treatment too much, but it sure doesn’t help. Other than that he runs, lifts weights, etc.

Thanks again for your suggestions and prayers.

Thank you all for your continued prayers for our son Cody. He says he is “doing better” but he has a pretty nonchalant attitude so we are trying to get more information. More details in post 103.

That is enough contact to push for the infusion if she wants it. There is such a short window to get it you have to make the decision quickly. The sooner you get it the better.

I dont know the downside of getting the infusion. There could be some. The drug is free but you may have to pay for the infusion..which brings in another issue if your insurance requires pre authorization for infusions.

But there is indication that it can act as a prophylactic.

In my opinion, too much is unknown about the virus. The girlfriend could be shedding.

Good luck with your decisions. And yes, it is a positive that he is not on a full face mask.

There seems to be a window of time when the body decides to kill you and you dont know until you get to that window what will happen..and by then it is too late for the infusion. It happens somewhere around day 7 or 8 from what I have read in posts from doctors. Of course, it could happen several days on either side as well.

Positive thoughts for you and your family.

by too late I mean at day 7 or 8 if you have not already got that infusion in the works you may not get it in time..unless you have a got an emergency room who is doing it.

Some are doing the infusion.

Here are two things to have your wife ask the Doctor for your son.

1. Ask if your son can lay in a prone position given all if his issues and parameters as that seems to help with lung issues. You have got to prevent/deal with pneumonia.

2. Ask about breathing exercising that can be done with oxygen mask on..if any.

I didnt do enough of the breathing exercises after a surgery and had some issues. It really does help.

Topical ivermectin is safe and is commonly prescribed for people to treat parasites and skin conditions like rosacea. Before Covid, topical ivermectin was probably prescribed for U.S. people more than the oral form.

PubMed has hundreds of medical studies supporting topical ivermectin.

Rumors against the topical form are probably a misunderstanding from people giving instructions on how to buy the paste form, which is typically displayed alongside the topical liquid. ("Be sure to get the paste, not the liquid.")

Please see the following assorted quotes from a doctor in this article:

Topical preparations of medications are common. For example, the NSAID Voltaren, also known as Diclofenac, can be taken orally, and it also can be applied as a gel. Both are highly effective against arthritis of the hands and knees. In addition, many patients who do not tolerate the oral preparation can easily tolerate the topical.

Ivermectin, on the other hand, is equally well-tolerated in both topical and oral forms. It can be applied to the body to treat lice or scabies, and it is highly effective. Although Ivermectin effectively kills parasites, it has other actions, including being a great anti-viral and anti-inflammatory. Even the FDA admits that it is highly effective at eradicating SARS-CoV-2 in the test tube.

Ivermectin topical, Soolantra, works so well against Rosacea because it kills the Demodex mites found in 15 to 18 times greater numbers in Rosacea patients. In addition, Ivermectin is a potent anti-inflammatory, which is another reason it is so effective, not just against Rosacea, but against COVID-19, especially during the Cytokine Storm when inflammation is extreme.

The famous nursing home cases in France revealed quite by accident the powerful anti-COVID effect of Ivermectin when 69 patients with a median age of 90 were treated for scabies. They suffered ZERO deaths and ZERO serious COVID cases, while a control group of 3,062 residents in 45 nearby care homes did not fare so well. These controls were matched by age and socioeconomic level, and they saw 22.6% COVID-19 cases and 5% deaths.

When a local nursing home developed a deadly COVID-19 outbreak, Dr. Stone knew she had to get them Ivermectin. However, the nursing home administrator would not allow anyone to bring in Ivermectin, much less administer it, much like in our US hospitals.

But Dr. Stone knew about a type of topical Ivermectin that was clear. Suddenly "Baby Oil" bottles filled with Ivermectin liquid found their way over the nursing home yard's fence. Residents of the old-folks home retrieved them, and soon all the senior citizens were seen moisturizing their skin.

Their COVID-19 care-home outbreak vanished almost overnight, and Dr. Jackie Stone deserves the credit for saving their lives.

The article also references “500,000 doses of liquid Ivermectin" used by people in Zimbabwe for COVID, but it is not clear if these were topical.

94% is the O2 cutoff that I’ve seen. Below that level, monoclonals are believed to make outcomes worse. So the window is small. People who get diagnosed with covid need to seek MABs before their O2 drops.

I posted the wrong article about the safe use of topical ivermectin. Here is the right article:
https://www.thedesertreview.com/opinion/columnists/topical-ivermectin-anyone/article_43889d84-efe4-11eb-96ca-57832f997ba1.html

And to clarify, I meant for the pour-on version to be used topically — not orally!

Thank you for the reminders on the prone position and breathing exercizes. I had mentioned that to him earlier in the week. I just texted him and he said “Yeah, I’ve been laying on my stomach a lot.”

Just got off the phone with the doctor. Forgot to ask what his oxygen numbers are. Doc said he was on maximum flow before he needs to be put on a ventaltor. But - his breathing was not labored and his appearance was better than last night in spite of his poor oxygen levels so the doctor is taking that as a good sign.

Too far gone for antibody infusions. Asked him about HCQ and ivermectin. He said that those are not approved protocals, blah, blah, blah. I asked him what harm would it do - especially the ivermection. “Well, we don’t want to do anything that might interfere with the proven standards of treatment, etc.”

He said that they are doing everything that they can for him. And if ivermectin was proven effective tomorrow he would give it to him. I didn’t want to argue with the guy - just thanked him for taking care of our son. But it seems to me with all the various reports from around the globe of the success of Ivermectin it is worth a shot.

******

Dear Lord - please give Cody’s body your healing power. Our abilities, our medicines, our knowledge is weak and confused. But You are not. Strengthen every little cell, every piece of lung tissue. Let every molecule of oxygen be beneficial to the healing powers of his body. I know that it is not your will for Cody to die, and so I pray that YOUR will be done. Help him to rest and strengthen.

Your wife should start doing the breathing exercises just in case. It strengthens the lungs and when you cough it helps get rid of the phlegm.

There is a video of what JK Rowling did to help her with her Covid.

If you have a spirometer you can use that. You can get them from Amazon. Or you can do the same thing without the spirometer

I couldn’t find the video of her doing it, but here is one by a doctor that is described as the exercize that she did. He wasn’t very clear though in all the steps I don’t think.

Note - he doesn’t describe it, but back in my singing days we were taught to “belly breathe”. Breathe in while expanding your stomach which lowers your diaphragm to allow more air into your lungs. I’m not clear on when the doc says to lay on your stomach with the pillow in front of you. I’m guessing the pillow is out of the way (like above the top of your head or better yet off the bed) so you can breathe. I can’t imagine it is to have the pillow in front of your face and covering your mouth while you are trying to breathe!?
