Good - I’ve got no problem with them searching for child porn on their services and backup services.

Scanning for “unapproved” data on MY phone is just a dangerous precedent.

They’re scanning for dissent, not child porn.

Exactly. If they can scan for this they can scan for anything they want.

I like this idea at least a bit in theory, as pedophiles are a problem not just in this country, but worldwide. The problem is reality. It would be soon subverted to a =lot= of other things. There would also be difficulties of false positives. Also, there are extant photographs out there of a 3 year old Zeugma, sans clothes, asleep on my tricycle. (I was apparently a little nudist)
How would such things be classified? Even if deemed to be harmless, ultimately, possession of same might well place one on a list I’d rather not be a part of.

Speaking of snooping, if I look up (search) someone using my facebook page, and then go to their profile, will they know that I went to their profile.

This I am certain of: Apple knows everything on your phone. I also certain that like all businesses in fascist states they want to get favor with the regime by demonstrating how useful they can be. So sharing all of our personal data with the FIB is a no brainer, except the second they do in a way the public notices it they will have no customers. So hey water drop that it’s just pedophiles they are looking for, you aren’t worried about protecting pedos are you? Then once they get it into the public conscience as a reasonable thing to do it is dissent and right wingers they start flagging for the FIB, guaranteed.

You can’t post the pictures of Hunter Biden (naked with little girls) online or you can be charged with child pornography

I thought this was the company that was ‘unable’ to help law enforcement get into terrorists’ phones because they had no access to their users’ phones, and their built-in security was too good?

They’ll do it without announcing it now.

This is true. I don’t know why anyone conservative would use Apple products. They spy on you and have for some time.

Apple sends invites for Sept. 14 launch event where new iPhones expected

Apple sent out invitations to the media for its annual launch event on Sept. 14, where the company is expected to announce new iPhones.

The company may also announce new Apple Watch and AirPods models. Apple releases Apple Watches on an annual basis and the AirPods are due for a revision since the last update was released in 2019.

Apple’s launch will be streamed on Apple’s website. Apple has held virtual launch events since the start of the pandemic in 2020...

The company is due to refresh the MacBook Pro and iPad models this fall, at least if it sticks to its annual schedule. But it’s unclear if they’ll be introduced at the same event as the iPhone.

Morgan Stanley: Apple Car focus is on ‘design and the vehicle’
Brooke Crothers
Mon, September 6, 2021, 6:07 AM·3 min read

Morgan Stanley analyst Katy Huberty shared her thoughts recently about how tech giant Apple might approach the development of the rumored Apple Car.

Apple has been working on projects related to car development since at least 2014. Rumors and reports have been inconsistent. At one point, reports indicated that Apple had decided to focus on vehicle software. But now it appears that Apple is focused not only on software but also a car for consumers.

Adam Jonas, also an analyst at the investment firm, talked with Huberty about the Apple car project in an interview published by Morgan Stanley,

“The car is essentially the next mobile device, and this is a category that Apple has focused on for years,” Huberty said, adding that Apple tends to focus on markets where “computing will become central to a human’s everyday life.”
