Another Look at the Spacing Between COVID Vaccine Doses (3 Months vs. 3 Weeks)
MedPage ^ | Sep 1, 2021 | Dr. Makary of Johns Hopkins University

When most Americans showed up to get their first dose of an mRNA vaccine, they were sternly warned that they must schedule a second dose within a month. In my case, I politely explained that I would come back for my second dose at 3 months.

The scheduler got flustered and treated me like I was a fugitive of the law. But a growing body of evidence over the last several months has shown that a longer interval provides better immunity in the long-term.

...Based on the thinking at the time, the short interval may have made sense. But some vaccinologists have pointed out that the two doses were so close together that they functioned as a single primer dose.

Given the current data, it appears that if we had spaced the two doses farther apart, we would have had two benefits: 1) We would have had more first doses on hand to protect Americans from January through March when we were supply constrained and 2) We might not be calling for boosters for the general population so quickly.

...Beyond only better immunity in the long-term, other considerations contribute to the present-day case for spacing the two doses. There are numerous anecdotal experiences suggesting that the typical vaccine side effects such as fatigue and malaise may be less common when the second dose is spaced at 3 months. The current short interval between vaccine doses may contribute to the rash of myocarditis cases we have seen in children. The heart complications are clustered after the second vaccine dose...

If the rigidity of the 3- and 4-week interval between doses represents one extreme, the other extreme is the lax guidance behind current booster recommendations...

With my recent Moderna shot they said at least 28 days. And then they scheduled it exactly 28 days later.

You can cancel that “28 days later” appointment and get your 2nd shot at a later day. There’s no problem getting convenient appointments for any of the COVID-19 vaccines now.

I got the second shot on Tuesday.

Definitely had a much stronger reaction to the second shot than the first one.

Are you going to be a good sheep and present your vaccine card wherever you are asked?

Or are you going to take a stand against COVID tyranny?

It certainly made sense for Big Pharma's bottom line.

8 months
6 months
5 months
Now...
3 months/weeks?

I can see it..

“Thank you for coming in to get your vaccination today, sir. Just roll up your sleeve, a little alcohol swab, a little pinch, and...there you go...all set. Let me put a bandaid on that.”
“Now, if you’ll just roll up your other sleeve, walk across the Waiting Room and see the nurse at that table over there...she’ll give you your booster shot.”

It will be like running a gauntlet.
An endless hallway with a nurse every six feet giving injections.

Methinks a thorough examination of the space between their ears is of the utmost importance.

How is that "two weeks to flatten the curve" thing working out for ya?

I'm probably going to continue secluding. So there will be no need to present my card.

Using a vaccine card for admission seems rather pointless since vaccinated can still get infected and are as contagious as non-vaccinated. If ensuring everyone is vaccinated helped reduce the risk that everyone in the room was a little safer, I'd be a lot more sympathetic to it.

But the people requiring Vaccine cards are uninformed, not tyrants, so what are you going to do? If it's their facilities, and I want to get in, I'll probably show my card.

When I go to the pharmacy I show my ID, those tyrannical bastards!!!

When I want to use a credit card I show my ID. Those nosey dictators.

If I want to travel by mass transportation, I show my ID. Those despicable brown shirts. They'rrre despicable!!!

I'll continue wearing a mask when I go out, whether places are requiring them or not, because I still believe it blocks at least some particles and therefore may result in a lower inoculum and a less severe disease.

Maybe I'll get me a sheep mask.

I'm a lot more concerned about censorship, fair elections, selective prosecutions, prosecutorial abuse, and dishonesty at the top levels of government including the medical establishment than I am about vaccine cards and masks.

If you are wearing a mask and some COVID virons manage to land on your mask, unless you take the mask off immediately and put on a fresh one, right out of the sanitary sealed package, those virons are going to get sucked into your lungs in the next couple of breaths you take.

And if they get into your lungs, then you might be able to breathe them out before they stick to your lung tissue. But if you are wearing a mask, they get stuck on the inside of your mask and you will breathe them right back in again in the next breath.

If you wear that face diaper all day, you are not only at a higher risk for COVID, but also bacterial pneumonia or other respiratory illnesses.

When a doctor comes into the room wearing a mask, he will throw the mask into a medical waste basket before he sees the next patient.

Do you throw your mask into a medical waste basket every time you finish talking to someone?

I leave mine in the car to bake in the sun for a week and then wear it again the next week. I’ve got masks I’ve been reusing that are over a year old.

It’s obviously worked for me. I haven’t gotten Covid yet.
