A gender reveal party triggered at least two Tennessee schools to lock down after an expecting father shot off his gun in celebration.
“Rumors of an active shooter at local school are incorrect,” the Murfreesboro Police Department posted on Twitter.
The incident unfolded Wednesday afternoon in Rutherford County when a resident of the area heard gunshots and someone scream. The person called 911, and due to the gunshots being so close to multiple schools, officials put them on lockdown.
The lockdown orders at Oakland High and Middle schools were both quickly lifted, however, after police discovered the gunshots were from a jubilant father finding out he and the child’s mother are having a boy.

These “gender reveals” are a real thing among a certain generation and many go way over the top. Some Darwin nominees have come from the worst disasters.

Murphreesboro has a sizeable muslim community. Typically during weddings or other such joyous occasions, particularly in Pakistan it’s customary for the menfolk to shoot their guns in the air, oblivious to the fact that what hours up must come down. Exactly. At my baby shower...we didn’t reveal. So we got a lot of “mint” colored jumpers if I can remember.
This is all about the “out-do” attitude of the current generation. Almost a “pageant mom” mentality, IMO.

Oh, this is not the same as a baby shower. This is just a display of narcissism in which the expectant parents invite their friends and relatives to learn whether the baby is a boy or girl. Stupid!

I thought "gender reveal" was to be done by the child or teenager himself/herself when "they" are ready. Parents aren't supposed to have a say anymore.
So I guess "genital reveal" is okay now, even though it has no effect on what "gender" your child eventually becomes?
Just for the record, I would never display my child's sex organs to anyone, especially to a bunch of voyeurs looking at pictures of them in my wife's womb.
