is this America?
what happened to freedom of speech?
what exactly was the point of baring him from the internet?
SIC SEMPER TYRANNIS
Wow! The Constitution of the USA is dead.
Aristotle said "Republics decline into democracies and democracies degenerate into despotisms."
Why would anybody think it would be any different this time than it's been throughout history?
If it was dead, things would look very different.
They can’t kill it. That’s why these communists are having such a hard time.
He knew these judges are Nazis, just looking for an excuse to lock him back up. It was dumb to use the net. Yes, it was an unconstitutional order but these courts don’t care about that. If they have the power to do it they’ll do it. Regardless of whether they have the right to do it.
“Caught using the internet” is the 21st century equivalent to “caught reading”. If the defendant watched a movie on Netflix or made a phone call while connected to a WiFi network, he’s “using the internet”. Good grief what a f’ng mess this country has become.
Yup. There's just no upside in emulating Rachel Corrie.
Good morning, Worm your honour-PJ
The crown will plainly show the prisoner
Who now stands before you
Was caught red-handed showing feelings
Showing feelings of an almost human nature
How can a defendant be expected to prepare their defense if they cannot access the internet?
You are correct. Why just imagine how awful it is for a defendant to be able to email their lawyer, or read documents about their case, or talk on the phone with their lawyer.
Banning internet access to a defendant is equivalent to banning them from reading mail and making phone calls in the era before the internet, and it effectively denies them the ability to prepare their defense for trial.
Judge Timothy J. Kelly appointed to the US D.C. District Court in September 2017. He received his A.B.from Duke in 1991 and his J.D. from Georgetown in 1997. He represented indigent defendants in D.C. Superior Court through Georgetown’s Criminal Justice Clinic. Judge Kelly began his career as an associate at Arnold & Porter, where his practice focused on defending complex product liability cases. From 1999 to 2000, he served as Arnold & Porter’s associate at the D.C. Legal Aid Society.
CONCLUSION: Educated in the swamp. Practiced law in the swamp. Never left the swamp.
Not a lawyer, but if you are out on bail or on probation, you have to follow judges’ instructions. The judges can be as reasonable or unreasonable as they wish. You basically have no rights. Don’t associate with certain individuals, don’t shack up with your girlfriend, don’t drink alcohol, etc. etc.—all have to be obeyed. The alternative is jail/prison where access to girlfriends, alcohol and the internet are also restricted.
I'm surprised they didn't charge his wife with "something" since she left her phone for him to use.
These days how can you not use the internet?
Black lives matter domestic terrorists get caught committing actual violent crimes against people and they ddon’t face the crap these peaceful protestors have faced
