Anyone else notice the grocery store shelves are getting emptied out again and not being restocked?

My Kellogg’s Raisin Bran from Sam’s Club (a 2-bag, big box) hasn’t been available for over eight weeks. It’s not available in any of the three Sam’s Clubs near me.

Curious if you are able to procure smaller boxes?

Wonder if raisins are in short supply due to drought/fires out west or it is the bran—again drought...

Thanks to - Overgenerous unemployment bonus payments - Irrational mask/vax requirements for employees - These creating an open market for anyone wishing to work

And the largest increase in Food Stamp rates since the program started. Then there's the child tax credit...(How much money do you get for each child? Most families will receive the full amount: $3,600 for each child under age 6 and $3,000 for each child ages 6 to 17. wikipedia...

In short - LOTS OF STUFF IS BEING DONE TO DESTABILIZE THE COUNTRY AND CAUSE PANICS...

Yeah sitting off shore because there are not enough people working to unload it and not enough drivers to pick it up and haul it.

I work in Logistics and truck capacity is bad and only going to get worse as the big 3 holiday-Halloween-Thanksgiving-Christmas start placing even more demand on trucking market all ready facing scarcity issues.

I know someone like your wife... I suggested she buy 20 pounds of rice and some canned soup... it’ll be better than eating tree bark...

And, if everything is fine - donate the rice and canned goods to a food bank in two years. Having a back-up doesn’t mean you have to eat it. Anyhow my friend agreed - it was the ‘notate to a food bank’ in two years that flipped her...

The practice is called "fronting".

I have noticed that. Did not know it had a name.

They use to stock the shelves from front to back. Now I see a shelf with only two rows of an item and empty space behind them.

I also see advertising cardboard use as a spacer to fill out a half-empty shelf.

And of course there are the "holes in the shelf", where they simply ran out of something. Those last a day or two and then they are filled - and something else is empty.

Never used to notice any of those things. Now I see them every time I go to the store.

I feel a chill wind blowing.

My then 62 year old mother stocked up y2k, despite my downplaying its significance as an IT professional.

She spent years eating the pasta, canned tuna, spaghetti sauce and peanut butter. Of course, she also used left over "Charles' Chips pretzels" for breading chicken and pork for five years after my parents quit the chip delivery business.

The Raisin Bran Crunch, in a smaller 2-bag box, which may have a higher profit margin, has been available throughout. Today I broke down and got one of those, even though I don’t want the increased sugar intake.

A roughly similar amount of raisins come in both types.

Just as a note, previously this was $2k for each child under 17 (so +1600 for 0-5, +1000 for 6-16, and newly +3000 for 17 year olds).

I’m a flat tax fan but good luck ever electing people who not only ‘want to’ but will actually get together and vote to eliminate the social control through tax game.

What other good or service do you proclaim what it “should cost”? Do you go around your local grocery store and pontificate this should cost this much and that should cost that much? Th manager would kick you out. LOL!!!! Why do you think the cost (buying) of labor is any different? The TRUTH is no one knows how much a Walmart checker SHOULD make, no one can determine that except the market, even one that is being manipulated.

Yessiree...the shelves certainly were empty yesterday when I was shopping...Libby veggies @ 50 cents per can...off-label 3 cans for a buck...butter at $1.99 per pound (you could upgrade to Challenge @ $2.42/pound)...Sargento shredded cheese 2 for $4...rice 50 cents per pound...Nathan’s hot dogs BOGO...ground beef (80%) $2.99 per pound...Smithfield bacon $4.97 pound...it was slim pickings, indeed.

If it’s not hoarding now, a couple more months of these dire predictions and it will be

Maybe more panic buying than hoarding.

1. Seems like preppers come first. They are acting responsibly regardless of what FB says.

2. Then hoarders - come perhaps sell inflated prices on Ebay?

3. Then panic buyers when they have to stand in line an hour to buy a package of TP.

"Old paradigms!"

I resemble that remark. (pair o' dimes)

I've been buying that original 2-bag box of Raisin Bran for maybe 6-8 years from Sams. These last many weeks, they haven't reconfigured the space for other product, as if they're still expecting to receive more of it.

I'm pretty sure lots of that product moved through the stores where I've shopped.

The short term ‘social control’ in this latest move is to put massive new stress on an already stressed food supply chain - and to function as an incentive for lower paid workers to sit home and have children rather than to have an [outside the home - job.

Both masterful destabilizing techniques if the desired goal is social chaos...
