A Brazilian bull rider was killed Sunday when his spur got caught in a rope, pulling him under the bull, and the animal stepped on his chest in California, according to the Professional Bull Riders touring group.
Amadeu Campos Silva, 22, was competing at a bull-riding Velocity Tour event at the Save Mart Center in Fresno, said Andrew Giangola, a spokesperson for Professional Bull Riders. He was pronounced dead at a hospital.
Campos Silva lost his balance and his spur got stuck in the flank strap, which is wrapped around the bull’s lower torso to encourage it to buck. In a “freak accident,” Campos Silva was pulled underneath the bull, which then stomped on his chest, Giangola said.

I rode a bull once, never again.
Me, too....only once.
I always root for the bull.
L
You know they’re big and strong, but you truly realize when you’re on it, and it’s too late...
Lol That’s right.
It happens. Never rode a bull, but my brother did for a while.
A couple of years ago, when I was about 60 I was working a 2 year old cutting horse on cattle, he made a turn, his outside front foot slipped and he rolled onto his right side, jumped up and ran down the arena. My right spur was hooked in the stirrup leathers and he drug me about 100 feet before I got my boot kicked off. I’ve always worn boots that were loose enough I could get them off if I needed to for just that reason. Those back feet churning past your face at 40mph will get your attention.
” Those back feet churning past your face at 40mph will get your attention.”
I believe that.
I saw a girl after she got “side kicked” by a horse. It hit her in the forehead and peeled her skin back to her scalp. That was scary. She wound up okay, but with a wicked scar.
I’m still fairly athletic for my age and rolled onto my right side as he got up, thinking if I was going to get hit I didn’t want it to be in my face!
I don’t do big animals. We have meat goats but even if we had enough land for cattle, which everyone else has around here, I’d still have goats. I have no interest in an animal that can simply lean on me and crush me.
Got on a horse once in summer camp. Horse had been abused and one of the camp counselors decided to walk by with a stick in his hand. Horse bolted in the opposite direction and I ended up on the ground.
Seeing bull riding was enough to convince me .... to not.
The bull was just getting even for all of the Brazilian churrasquerias in the USA.
I was at a summer camp riding as well, Going single file the rider in back of me started to pass when suddenly his horse turned and decided to kick my horse unfortunately he got my leg, i thought it was broken but it wasn’t thank heaven. Someone said the horses hated each other. 20 minutes earlier me and my steed galloped up the side of a large hill. ‘Twas exhilarating.
Play with bulls, and you get gored or trampled. No sympathy from me.
If you’re riding a bull, is there really such a thing as a “freak accident?”
If I recall correctly, Silva was one of the top Bull riders.
Same here. Once.
when i was a sophomore in hs, i wanted to run away one summer and join the rodeo with some friends,
i wasnt allowed to, and after that i went bad .
Stepped on his chest.
That’ll do it. 😐
I “landed” when my back & head hit the ground the same time as my feet hit over my head...
I was folded in half. Luckily I’m very flexible, and was 22 at the time.
