Hooking somebody up to a ventilator prevents coughing and the crap continues to accumulate in their lungs until they die. Nonsense. There are procedures to help clear lungs when one is on a ventilator and I've witnessed such repeatedly in both the cases of my brother and my Dad. Both survived.
