"I cannot believe that people who were raised on Henry Rollins and John Lydon and even the Dead Kennedys and Biafra, who frankly were willing to just about die for the 1st Amendment -- Hank used to carry around his death threat letters and read them at Black Flag shows; Lydon loves the US so much he naturalized, the hard, legal way -- has promulgated an entire generation of incel cuck p'whipped marxist maoist mandarins"
I do believe an actual "Holiday in Cambodia" (or Venezuela) would correct Millennial misunderstandings about Socialism.
The Laziest Generation.
Obviously not all boomers were to blame but there were plenty enough of them to bring on the self-centeredness/ immorality that we are plagued with. “If it feels good do it” “sex drugs and rock and roll” “abortion on demand” etc etc..
Preeach it!
““If it feels good do it” “sex drugs and rock and roll” “abortion on demand” etc etc..”
That is after my time and before my kids time... you are talking about Disco time of the 70s or the real hippies of the mid to late 60s... I remember those times and people... good productive time for some.
Excellent piece. And spot on.
Yeh, all those cell phones, computers, microwaves, and thousands of other inventions by boomers weren't better than what came before them.
Except those were not invented by boomers. The boomers were still interns when that stuff was invented. Like the Chinese, most boomers could do the monkey see, monkey do stuff.
Yes, I am exaggerating somewhat. But the significant inventions of the 70’s-90’s were not boomers.
When people start talking generational contributions the lines get fuzzy really fast. For example, the people who are college aged now are not millennials. Millennials are mostly in their thirties (86-04 birth years.)
Boomers think they are wonderful because there are so many of them. Not usually true. And the greatest generation was wonderful in the 40’s, but they screwed up the country pretty badly in the 60’s to 2000’s. The Silents were politically in effective. And the boomers have given us the last five, pretty mediocre Presidents.
I think pointing out the faults of a younger generation merely points out the gradual decay of the culture in general. It’s like looking at the third, fourth, or fifth generation of the Hearst and wondering why they are not as great as WR Hearst.
If children don’t learn to earn something they become non productive to themselves and a parasite to others.
Indoctrinated in a society that teaches socialism/environmental whackoism in K-12. Never seen the inside of a church. Raised by video. Never had to work. What could go wrong?
Gee. A generation of selfish, entitled brats raised a generation of selfish entitled brats. Who could have seen that coming?
A big problem with their knowledge is that so much of what they know just ain’t so. Their education has been Global warming, microaggressions, gay and transgender rights, safe-spaces, and socialism all the way through college. They live in censured and controlled social media worlds where big tech tells them what to think and protects them from wrong think. It is a miracle that any of them have any sense at all.
A child I knew of was hyperactive and got into trouble in elementary school. Of course, the first thing suggested was Ritalin. But the parents insisted that the child have a full health work up.
Turns out the child was allergic to some of the most common foods—milk, wheat, corn, peanuts. So the parents changed the child’s diet. This calmed the physically hyperactive behaviors, but the child still disrupted classes in small, passive-aggressive ways. So the mother had the child’s intelligence tested. Whoa, turns out the kid was at the top of the charts.
Fortunately, the school was responsive, allowed the child some free time each day to confer with an older child who was also bored stiff in class but well behaved (and could act as a mentor); and they skipped the child to the next grade. Turns out that’s what teachers had once done for the mother, who, being “a girl”, had never even been considered potentially smart enough to be bored in her age-groups’ classes—until her test scores came back.
Having learned of these experiences, I would never put any child on Ritalin until he or she is thoroughly tested.
Good one! And the quote below has been attributed to many since the 1600s, including Edmund Burke, John Adams, Victor Hugo and Winston Churchill:
"If you are not a liberal at 25, you have no heart.
If you are not a conservative at 35 you have no brain."
I have always thought that old saying was spot on.
That is an epic rant.
Participation trophies and time-outs are clearly not a good way to raise kids.
