Italian firefighters on Sunday battled a high-rise blaze in Milan that spread rapidly through a 20-story residential building and poured black smoke into the air. Residents were hurriedly evacuated
One firefighter told the Corriere della Sera newspaper that the blaze was still limited when they arrived and firefighters were able to get residents out. Within an hour, the flames had spread from the 15th floor, where the fire appears to have started, quickly devouring the entire facade of the building.

Like England and the middle east.
Way worse than the leaning tower of SanFran.
“… Unidentified residents told Corriere that the panels on the facade were supposed to have been fire-resistant.…”

I guess they were not “fire-resistant” enough.
Achmed-the-Arsonist, or was it just an old refrigerator...

Wasn’t there a hi rise in England which had a massive fire a few years back where the facade caught fire?

That was before they found a lower bidder... and no one checked the specs.
Or before the inspector got bribes to ignore it all.
“That was before they found a lower bidder...”
That was before they got a higher kickback ...
Wiring issues? (Too many friends have owned Italian cars over the years.)

Yes! But they got them for such a killer price!

The middleman needs to eat too, he can’t always work for free.
Yep, caused by a fridge as I recall.
If that’s the building (not a file photo), it is what they call “fully involved.”
Achmed.
My first thought was muslims.

There have been a few high-rise fires on the exterior like this one.
The building structure is concrete and a curtain wall with the glazing all suspended off the structure.
The curtain wall is insulated and the less expensive insulation tends to burn!
Sometimes they sandwich the insulation and call it fireproof! Maybe.
Until someone cuts holes in it to hang it or maybe he had the drawings upside down?
The inside aluminum is perhaps as thick a beer can; the fire melts it.
And things like firestops... cost money takes time...
British design? Seems to happen there.

Of course, the US had the MGM hotel fire in Vegas and the Winecoff hotel fire in Atlanta. Both of those buidings were refurbished and continued in use.
Yes, it was, a fridge-freezer had malfunctioned.
The whole Grenfell Tower (in London) went ablaze quickly. I think it was the rainscreen catching fire.
It was horrible: 72 persons lost their lives and more than 70 others were wounded.
