Without AC, New Mexico, Utah and Nevada would still be mostly uninhabited stinking desert.
But they would still be able to vote for Biden, right?
>>Without AC, New Mexico, Utah and Nevada would still be mostly uninhabited stinking desert.<<
More importantly, without AC Washington DC would be EMPTY between May and October of every year! Senators and Representatives would have to *horrors* visit their home states!
Except for the original cave dwellers there-— go back in the caves and there is natural cooling. Example: Wind Cave in Dakotas. Amazing outward and quite cool wind comes from inside the cave.
That is— 50 feet under the stinking desert (and agree with your description)— it is much cooler. So, many “energy efficient homes” in NM, NV etc. are built down into the ground, and you step down stairs to any ingress door. Surprising also is night time desert temps-— the heat all radiates up and out, at times very cold.
And all of the South with it’s unbearable humidity.
First place they should outlaw AC is Washington, DC. The last time Congress passed a budget on time was the year before central air was installed in the Capitol.
‘Without AC, New Mexico, Utah and Nevada would still be mostly uninhabited stinking desert.’
The entire growth of the South & West of the country in the past 75 years is entirely due to the accessibility of the average middle class person to own an air conditioner & to get central air.
No one would voluntarily live in Dallas, Houston, Atlanta, Orlando, Oklahoma City or dozens of other cities without air conditioning.
And Arizona, too.
