Homeschooling Advice Needed
August 28, 2021

Posted on 08/28/2021 1:36:29 PM PDT by metmom

I have been getting more requests for advice on starting homeschooling.

The first thing to do/consider is joining Home School Legal Defense Association - HSLDA.

Here's a link to their website.

https://hslda.org/

They provide state by state advice here regarding regulations.

https://hslda.org/legal

If anyone can help with finding homeschool support groups by state, that would be great.

Are there any AZ homeschoolers who could help someone starting in AZ?

We homeschool in Arizona. I responded earlier to Almaking’s request for information, but would be happy t o help any other homeschoolers. As you know, the homeschooling answer varies with each parent and child. The strength of homeschooling is that there is no one way to do it. It can be molded to fit the child’s needs.

In year 2 of home schooling 3 elementary aged kids. 4th is a baby. We will not subject our kids to the Marxist numbskulls in our ultra-left city. (Moving soon). My wife is my hero and all 3 kids are far ahead of their public school peers

Nobody is perfect, HOWEVER, parental control vs the govt edukation is what the establishment is against. And when ‘edukators’ brag about indoctrinating and grooming children without criminal charges, that’s why we homeschool. Because we know what’s being taught and with our own personal beliefs as well.

Just because the other kids make fun of your kid and beat him up is not a good reason to homeschool.

If your kid tried going to school and it made him cry, homeschooling
will only set him up to cry harder when he hits the real world.

The best thing you can do is hunt down some pre 2000 textbooks and a set of encyclopedias. The internet changes to meet the current agenda, get a good solid base in history, math, science and civics. Ignore the BS in ‘social studies’, use the good book to teach ‘getting along’.

You have obviously never had the real world experience of having a colleague who has been home educated.

I guess my thirty-two year old homeschooled son on track to make well o we double six figures this year with hundreds of clients and referral partners in finance has not made it in what YOUR idea of the real world is, but in the actual real world he's doing quite well - socially, mentally, financially, and spiritually.

I guess my daughter who earned her graduate degree in education and teaching and has several years under her belt in her field is a failure and can't handle the real world.

Probably my third child who is finishing his undergraduate degree in music composition and has been sought after to score special projects can't handle the real world either.

My poor younger children have no hope in their perspective studies and fields either. They just can't handle the “real world.”

Why don't you go enlarge your world and participate with the MILLIONS of homeschool graduates out there instead of painting a picture full of false agenda-driven ideas?

Just because the other kids make fun of your kid and beat him up is not a good reason to homeschool.

***********************************

I used to agree with this.
However, I have come to the conclusion that no child should have to face torment and physical abuse daily. Instead of making them stronger, it breaks their spirit and destroys their self esteem.
I watched a friend child go through this kind of bullying, and he became a different child when she finally pulled him out of school.

Plus, “in the real world” an adult would never put up with this kind of abuse.
An adult would be able to sue their employer for harassment, and/or have the person arrested for assault.

Why should our kids get any less protection?

No, you’re responsible for your own lack of experience and systemic ignorance.
