I used to work Unemployment. Unemployment Insurance is money (a tax) paid by the Employer. It works like car insurance. When an employee makes a claim and is awarded benefits, the employers unemployment insurance tax goes. Employees never pay into the Unemployment Insurance fund.
So no, it is not YOUR money.
My friend in NJ pays into it. He showed me the line item on his pay stub.
it is as in they broke the contract.
if it was a condition of hire/employment that’s one thing
but to say you need it to keep your job, they broke the contract and the state is the one screwing you by with holding the money not the employer
the employer can fire you, but it’s the state robbing you, just another form of state coercion
The Employer & Employee pay into unemployment in Oregon
It’s paid in your behalf, based on money you make, so yes it is yours.
Californian’s pay into the EDD fund a percentage deducted from each paycheck, but Employers do pay the bulk.
