RT-PCR tests for other respiratory illness were created almost instantly after the technology was created. The CDC created a cheap one panel test to be distributed for free.
How the hell do you think they know that a lot of the current pediatric illness is actually RSV? They didn’t stick a dozen swabs up the kids’ nose, no, they used one sample and a multi-panel test.
The free tests are being discontinued in favor of the better commercially available ones. Which is what the hacks at the CDC should have done in the first place, contract it out to the commercial labs in the first place. There wouldn’t have been any of this bullshit about covid numbers if they had.
