The young ones are pretty docile.

Wild animals are pretty predictable, really. You have to know how to read them. Part of that is maintaining a safe distance. Doesn’t do you much good to know an attack is imminent if the critter is in your lap.

Animals can be unpredictable. There are times when I rough house with my Rotten Shepherd, and it gets pretty wild. When she was younger, she drew blood a few times, nothing serious. Still, I'm on my toes when we're playing.

We never do it when the grandkids are around. She's so gentle with them, and very protective.
