The Indian government approved limited use of Ivermectin for mild cases and HCQ to healthcare workers exposed to Covid patients just as the delta wave peaked, with no research studies to support their decision.
This is in line with American drug maker Merck's statement that they found
~No scientific basis for a potential therapeutic effect against COVID-19 from pre-clinical studies;
~No meaningful evidence for clinical activity or clinical efficacy in patients with COVID-19 disease,
~A concerning lack of safety data in the majority of studies.
Suggesting ivermectin was the reason the delta wave in India subsided, is very much like suggesting wearing a mask stops the spread of the virus. You'd like to believe it, but hard science doesn't back you up.

There is plenty of research to support the efficacy of ivermectin, much of which was available before India used it. https://ivmmeta.com/

Merck has teamed up with Pfizer for a new drug to fight covid https://news.yahoo.com/pfizer-starts-dosing-patients-oral-121106516.html
The new drug they are producing is a protease inhibitor just like ivermectin.

Why would Pfizer, Merck et al, make a new drug that works just like ivermectin when one already exist? Because there is no money to be made in ivermectin as it’s patent expired in 1996.
