Interesting that it is from Cleveland.com - Cedar Point just had to close Top Thrill Dragster as a piece flew off and hit a waiting rider in the head.
Too bad, it looks as fun as Top Thrill Dragster was.
There are similar rides in the US, like Top Thrill Dragster at Cedar Point. It goes from 0-120 mph in under 4 seconds. It’s awesome. I would imagine these people with neck injuries didn’t follow ride guidelines, especially the part about keeping your head back against the headrest during acceleration. I strained my neck a little one time when I accidentally had my head a little off the headrest at the start.
That’s my understanding as well why there were problems with the incredible acceleration forces the electromagnetic system in the Ford was producing.
“The coaster looks pretty mild except for the starting acceleration.”
That’s what I was thinking. Keep your head against the headrest and you’ll be fine. If they were leaning out waving at their buddies when the ride started, that would have been a bad move.
It reminds me of the Expedition at Disneyworld. I went on it last summer with my then 5 yo granddaughter. I thought we were gonna die but she loved it...so we ended up going 3 times! She’s fearless and I didn’t wanna look like a pussy grandma, plus she said she’d hold my hand, lol.

1967 427 Cobra CSX3269 went
0 - 100 -and back to 0 in 13 seconds
on BIAS PLY TIRES!!!!
That’s crazy. I imagine a Tesla could do that.
That’s about 2 1/2 Gs. They’re lucky it wasn’t heart attacks.
“I’ve accelerated at about this rate on a catapult off of a U.S. aircraft carrier”
Did you have to swim back or did they pick you up?
:)
You and my English teacher would have gotten along well. I neglected to mention the C-2 Greyhound I was in.

Fighter pilots do.
At least they didn’t give you a big fish hook...
Maybe when you could get it to run and the Lucas auto parts could be found...........LOL!
This ride looks like it has twice the acceleration in half the distance. I can see injuries if you do the standard roller coaster "hands in the air" at launch, or if you don't have your head firmly back into the headrest.
I changed-out Lucas for Bosch. It worked well. So did the Paxton Superchargers.
What is a change in position? Velocity
What is a change in velocity? Acceleration
What is a change in Acceleration? Snap
What is a change in snap? Crackle
What is a change in crackle? Pop
Yes those are real things (derivatives) and their terms
Jerk is the rate of change of acceleration. You have to pay close attention to jerk when designing such a system.
broken bones? freakin snowflakes ... lol
The article says 1.56 seconds, not 2.
I calculate 3.3 Gs.
😎😎
