Dr. Marty Makary, a professor at John Hopkins School of Medicine, during an appearance on The Vince Coglianese Show, said individuals formerly infected with COVID-19 are seven times more likely then vaccinated people to fight off the virus. “It appears that natural immunity is better against the Delta variant. When you get infected with COVID, your body’s immune system develops antibodies to the entire surface of the virus,” Makary said. “Not just the slight protein that the vaccines gives you, but the entire surface. And so you get a more diverse antibody portfolio in your system.” Makary said data from Israel revealed that natural immunity appears to be 6.7x more effective than being vaccinated when it comes to fighting off COVID-19. “One of the great failures of our medical leadership has been ignoring the half of America with natural immunity, which is the half of non-vaccinated folks.” Host Vince Coglianese said that the government likely does not share this data because “they’re scared that people are going to try and take the risk.” Makary has still encouraged those who are not vaccinated and not immune to get the vaccine. Studies conducted by researchers from the Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis found that cells in the bone marrow of those who recovered from COVID a year earlier had a memory of the virus. Another study showed that the cells continue to mature 12-months after the individual contracted the virus. Dr. William Hanage, an associate professor of epidemiology at Harvard’s T.H. Chan School of Public Health, said that it is “impossible” to know whether the COVID vaccine or natural immunity is more protective against the virus due to the lack of knowledge regarding the level of protection natural immunity gives a person over time.

Yes, the important thing are typos by some harried reporter at MSN.
Matters SO MUCH!
I’ll completely disregard the article now!
No, I’ve been vaccinated. I don’t care one bit who else gets vaccinated. I got it to help protect ME from getting sick. And you are correct, those who don’t get vaccinated are no risk to me.
I think we agree.
And for the record, I am pro-voluntary vaccine for the vulnerable.
I don’t think it is worth the risk for those who recovered from COVID (assuming a healthy immune system).
I don’t think it’s worth the risk for healthy people of child-bearing or child-siring years.
I don’t think any children should get near it, unless they are very sickly.
What I want to know is if infection after vaccination would lead to the same immunity?
If a person has been vaccinated, would they gain the benefit of reducing their symptoms and gaining a 7 times immunity?
67% of US citizens have been vaxxed.
Which means 33% have not.
Of the 33% that have not, half have natural immunity
Which means a total of 83% of the population is immune.
So some how we do not have herd immunity yet? explain that one to me.
“…Real world result is 6.7X times less likely to get reinfected, including with Delta, than people with 2X shot of Pfizer….”

I’m not sure I have a good understanding of what “6.7 times less likely” means.
In the Mayo study, they found that the Moderna fully vaccinated cohort had 76% efficacy against detectable infection compared to the similarly situated UNvaccinated cohort. That roughly means if 100 unvaccinated had a detectable infection than only about 24 members of the Moderna cohort would have a detectable infection (almost all of which would be asymptomatic or mild).
How does that “6.7 times less likely” figure translate to the above explanation of “efficacy”? Thanks.
Where are you getting your figures?

The Delta Variant is as contagious as chickenpox. The highest spread of cases and severe outcomes is happening in places with low vaccination rates, and virtually all hospitalizations and deaths have been among the unvaccinated. By the end of July, Delta was the cause of more than 80% of new U.S. COVID-19 cases.
Kids and young people are a concern as well. Cases in the United Kingdom showed that children and adults under 50 were 2.5 times more likely to become infected with Delta. Delta seems to be impacting younger age groups more than previous variants. Even though you may be relatively safe from death if you are unvaccinated, you are not safe from a hefty hospital bill that you will have to pay for. Also, the long-term health effects from the infection are just starting to give alarm.
Since I have been fully vaccinated with Moderna's vaccine, I don't have to worry about hospital bills. Have you considered what they will cost? Funeral costs if you are in the 2%?
The 6.7X is a study from Israel of previously-infected vs. breakthrough of vaccinated.
The study found that “Israelis who were vaccinated were 6.72 times more likely to get infected after the shot than after natural infection, with over 3,000 of the 5,193,499, or 0.0578%, of Israelis who were vaccinated getting infected in the latest wave”.
It has nothing to do with the Mayo study you cite, and is easily found with an internet search.
Thanks.
What is the hospitalization rate for younger, healthy people?
That is exactly the motto of the CDC and the shills on CDC's behalf (and you Rand Corp "influencers" - you know who you are - and so do we).

The National Safety Council (NSC) ranks the chances of dying in a motor vehicle accident at 1 in 107.
The death rate for virus in the US, across all age groups, races and genders is around 1 in 155.

Regards,
In the week ending July 24, people ages 18 to 49 are the largest demographic hospitalized for COVID-19. Since I couldn’t post the image of the graph, here is the link:

I watch the vid. He said nothing of the sort and you really need to work on your science understanding and comprehension.
Wanna challenge me to a science test?
You can be hospitalized and not die. However, you can be hospitalized and not escape the hospital bill. If you are in the 2% who do die, add the funeral costs to the hefty hospital bill.
Of course, like wearing a seat belt, a vaccine will prevent most hospitalizations. You do wear a seat belt?
Unbelievable, why in the world would he try to rely on 100 years worth of Science and Research to voice his expert opinion, has the Public Masters Approved of this??
