Again, very much appreciated thought/info. You understand it from a 20,000 ft view far better than I did.

Any chance you could expound upon the topic with regards to the J&J (DNA vs mRNA) approach? Is it also synthesized? Also using spike protein?

All the vaccines are using the spike protein as the target antigen. Again, mostly because of it’s uniqueness to the coronavirus and it’s dissimilarity to any human proteins so it avoids the morass of provoked auto-immune disorders.

J&J is just using a different delivery vector, which is a disabled adenovirus spliced with the covid DNA for the spike protein. Both the DNA and the mRNA then cause your cells to produce the spike protein on their surface, which then provokes the immune system to respond to the alien protein. It’s a little less effective than the mRNA vaccines but it also doesn’t require subzero transportation and storage which is a huge advantage.

Novavax is using genetically modified moths to produce spike proteins used in their vaccine so it’s more like traditional cultured vaccines except the culturing method which is faster, easier and less dangerous than whole virus cultured in a petri dish or vat. Then the spike proteins are purified out of the moths and are in the vaccine itself rather than causing your cells to produce the spike protein, so also more like the traditional dead virus vaccines. It’s faster than traditional lab culturing, but not as fast as synthesized mRNA/DNA vaccines and still using genetic technology, albeit a different one.

This is my preference, but it’s not on the US market yet. The company seems to be concentrating on approval in developing nations, possibly because the US market is saturated.

For the record, I had a mild case of Covid last December and had one dose of Moderna in May. I will only get a booster if the virus doesn’t peter out like it should and Novavax is available.

But I expect this will follow the standard viral curve and peter out over the winter regardless of vaccination levels or how hard they try to flog the fearporn. That which cannot continue, won’t.

It will mutate into another common cold or only be a scourge to the chronically seriously ill or aged.
