RIP Charlie.

Hell of a run for a rocker but Charlie was probably the cleanest of the bunch

The others look like old rockers. Charlie always hit me as a country gentleman.

Looks like he may have had a heart procedure, if this is true....

There is no Rolling Stones without Charlie Watts.

He was as integral to the band and their sound as John Bonham was to Led Zeppelin.

His last statement, regarding his illness/recuperation....

For once, my timing has been off.

“You could replace Brian or Bill, but you can’t replace Charlie. Stones should call it a day.”

The Stones should have kept Mick Taylor, one of the greatest guitarists ever; and he never got the kudos he deserved. His guitar work on “Winter” is just mind-blowing.

I saw them once in 78. Foreigner came on 1st with basically no sound system. Stones arrived 2.5 hours late. They played for 45 minutes and riot shorty ensued there after.

As is Betty White.

"You could replace Brian or Bill, but you can’t replace Charlie."

Yes, Brian was greatly replaced by Mick Taylor who was their best lead guitarist - think "Gimme Shelter". Bill Wyman (did some interesting runs) was replaced by the long time black bassist (name?), who I don't understand doesn't join in the Stones' bows. He just walks off stage.

I've always said that Charlie Watts was a limited drummer on his small kit with the same beat to most songs. I wondered if the Stones got someone for more involved fills with a bigger kit what they could do. But then, it wouldn't have the Stones garage band sound.

"Can't You Hear me Knocking" was probably the best example of Charlie's jazz influence and ability. He killed during the mellow jazzy instrumental.

RIP, Charlie. You kept the beat for the soundtrack of my life.

Several years? LOL!

I think 1997 qualifies as several years ago, don't you? Even several more years ago I saw Jimmi Hendix in Denver shortly before he died.

When we saw the Stones, I think Cheryl Crow opened.

They say Keith is an even better bass player than a guitarist. You can see him on bass on "The Dirty Mac's" "Yer Blues" on the Rock and Roll Circus movie.

"Bridges to Babylon tour"

Their last good album with some good singles. You've seen them, but you may want to get the video. It's amazing and my favorite live video of any band. They were at their best.

There's one little man-bunned douche nozzle in Ohio that probably doesn't care. From my trip there last year:

While in Ohio I had occasion to replenish my Rum supply. Ohio is one of those states where you buy your liquor from the Gubbmint, usually in supermarkets. I searched in vain for Myers’s and had to settle for Appleton Estates, which is at least Jamaican.

While in the store their overhead audio was tuned to a Rock station and they were playing a lot of Cream due to Ginger Baker having passed. I was checking out and “Crossroads” was playing. I said to the Millennial, Vegan, man bun- wearing hipster doofus of dubious gender identity checker “We lost another Great one”. He motioned up to the speaker above us and said “That? Dude that is soooo old. Moldy old.” I passed up my chance to call him out on his Gender assumption crime and said “Yeah, but you’re gonna be pissed off some day when your grand kids are listening to that instead of the crap your generation calls music” as I collected my Rum and walked away. “Dude” my ass.
