Although these mysterious formations have appeared worldwide, south-west England is the unlikely world capital of crop circles, baffling locals and farmers alike.
Was this the nexus for some kind of potent Earth energy? Or, terrifyingly, a target for extra-terrestrial weaponry? In this instance, something more mundane. "That's the logo of the Barge Inn down in Honeystreet," chuckled a fellow visitor, a potbellied man in a Dark Side of the Moon T-shirt. "Probably man-made, this one."
The intricacy and size of the formations, coupled with the fact that they would appear overnight, seemingly out of nowhere, baffled locals and farmers alike. In 1996, a crop circle appeared opposite Stonehenge depicting a mathematical fractal called a Julia set; a similar formation that emerged on Milk Hill in 2001 was one of the largest ever, stretching 900ft. A 2008 formation near the Iron Age hill fort of Barbury Castle required decoding by an astrophysicist, who concluded that it was a geometric representation of the first 10 digits of pi.

And if they lure in a herd of sightseers enjoying the local economy, so much the better.
Hey and if the big guy gets 10% of what the ChiComs pay Tollybonn for deserted US military tech, well, that was the plan.
There was a time when certain people on FR actually took this rubbish seriously. While progress here has been inconsistent, this risible fraud at least has largely been relegated to the dumpster where it belongs.
I have found it amazing how easily people believe something to be "impossible" except for alien technology, when a little imagination and planning explains it all.
No doubt a large number of the crop circles, particularly in England, were total frauds.
But there are a few very cool highly complex fractals that are a bit harder to explain....
The truly amazing ones could be military psychological warfare/disinformation/population testing though—I would not totally rule that out...

Just a guess, the market price might be higher in Iran?

Please no?
This is fun stuff.
Years back there were fun articles on just how the work was completed.
Now the patterns are larger and more complex to the point the farmer has to be involved (paid), because of the area of crop removed from harvesting?
The timing of this post is uncanny. Was just talking to Mom about her old friend and acquaintance who publishes Circular Times.

Does that message seem to crop up more often than random chance?
crop circles by the stick and rope crew
Simply the best!
Well duh. That's where the hoax began.
Anyone who has seen the TV series Time Team will see crop circles everywhere — they are iron age burial sites.
pretty sure its covid
And planks for compressing the vegetation in one direction.
IMO the newer ones will need lots of string? GIS and GPS would help.

Synchronicity!
I’m not sure those are the same kind of circles.
