Murder charges have been filed against one of two teenage drivers in connection with a suspected street racing crash in Burbank earlier this month that killed three young people in another car not involved in the apparent speed contest, prosecutors announced Monday.
Prosecutors are still mulling potential charges against the second driver, a 17-year-old who has not been named.
The two are accused of engaging in an apparent street race that resulted in a series of crashes involving multiple vehicles in the area of Glenoaks Boulevard and Andover Drive on the night of Aug. 3, according to the Burbank Police Department.
The 19-year-old was behind the wheel of a Kia while the 17-year-old was driving a Mercedes-Benz, police said.

Wow I know exactly where that is. And it’s disconcerting hearing so many crashes of this level on surface streets.
Very sad.
I’m a little surprised they did this in Burbank because my experience is that the BPD are among the most ticket happy patrol divisions in the county. Maybe second to the Sheriff’s office that patrols West Hollywood.
So what vehicle “won” ? The KIA or the MB ? Was hammy driving the MB ? If so is toto involved and when did he know it. ?

RIP to those that were killed.
race or less damage?
Sounds like all were losers in that game. God rest their souls...
Both !
Sounds like they were over charged; Murder, really?
I thought that’s what drag strips were for.
A place to race, not on the street.
But. There’s a lot of rules and procedures and cost and other impediments to just plain ‘racing’.
There’s no shortage of drag strips actually. Just a few miles north of Burbank.
Next to Burbank Airport there are old runways and old abandoned industrial buildings. I guess these were for aerospace industry that used to thrive in SoCal area decades ago. They could open a drag strip there too but probably commercial developers have a grip on it. And of course... insurance and safety and other standards. But all those rules ruin the fun of just putting an annoying sounding exhaust and a tail fin on a 4-banger Mitsubishi coupe.
Regardless of the circumstances he should use the standard Cop Excuse

Cool area. Quick road. Lots of racing. Punks who are dumb and bored conclude that going fast through pedestrian zones is fun. Very sad to see innocent youngsters get killed. Adam 12 tv show in 1972 did an episode where Officers Milner and McCord want to stop drag racing in the streets. They ask Dick Clark to open his drag strip to the young punk racers who refuse to go, since Clark’s safe drag strip will prevent the young punks from the giving paying to another punk to find city streets for racing.
