The CDC estimated that the actual number of COVID infections (not just those confirmed by test) in the USA was about 130 through the end of May 2021. Assuming 10 million more since then, that would still only be about 40% of the population who had been naturally exposed.

Yes, it definitely looks like Florida is at or near its peak. I follow the 7-day average trend lines and Florida has been, since August 8th, at the 21,000 (plus or minus 1,000) new cases level. So it does look like Florida new cases have arrived at a plateau and hopefully will soon decline as predicted by those biostatisticians.
But one thing I find intriguing is the precipitous fall in the 7-day moving death rate that seems to have occurred BEFORE the predicted fall in daily new cases. It will be interesting to see if that death rate stays low. I’m wondering if Governor DeSantis’ vigorous promotion of monoclonal antibodies treatment may have something to do with that. Perhaps some of our Florida FReepers can weigh in on this.
