Local supermarket is paying $20 per hour for people to fill orders placed online by customers.

*********

I see that around in some of the stores I frequent. I notice that
Walmart got into that side of things back when the lock downs
were in place. They continue and apparently do a good business
with this service.

It must be quite profitable if the store can afford to pay that kind of money for that kind of work.

where we are the people filling this role are less than enthusiastic to be there. it can take 45 minutes to get your online order. The delivery people are soooo slow. I get when its busy you may have a wait, but it seems their lack of speed creates the backlog. I would be runing back and forth to fulfill peoples orders.

If you noticed, one of the ways they pay for this service is to have different prices for food items online than it is in the store. This is not an absolute technique but if you do it enough, people effectively pay a premium to get the items delivered to the car and thus, pay for the added employees.

I used the pick up service and stopped because I noticed I could not get the ‘some’ of the same deals I could get when I went into the store.
