We are taking many more cases after opening a smaller sister hospital for covid only. Whew!
Also, they just said our base was being evaluated for Afghan refugees. We’ve done that before…Vietnam, Cuba, Katrina…but never in the middle of a pandemic. We have a huge Asian population. They stayed. Their children and grandchildren are part of our staff.

I think the main variable, is how soon they can get the logistics working, to flow them out.
It looks like a panicked, chaotic “Charlie Foxtrot” over in Kabul. A lot of people could flow out pretty quickly through Pakistan, if the Jalalabad Road through the Khyber pass was open to Peshawar. That would require the Taliban and Pakistan (but I repeat myself) to agree. Send money.
Those coming out by air are probably already piling up at the airbases between here and there, and will need a place to go. I heard they took out about 6,000 a day or two back, and they were mostly refugees, rather than Americans.
