Palantir CEO Alexander Karp has donated $180,000 to a New Hampshire hermit who has garnered media attention in recent weeks after the cabin he was living in burned down.
The money was a personal donation from Karp
“How can I express myself and my gratitude towards something like that? I start to tear up whenever I think about it,” Lidstone told the Concord Monitor of Karp’s donation. “For an old logger who always had to work, for anyone to give you that type of money, it’s incredibly difficult for me to get my head around.”

What the Karp?
What’s an 80 year old want with $180,000
One hell of weekend in Vegas?
The vultures are already circling.
Hi.
“What’s an 80 year old want with $180,000?
One hell of weekend in Vegas?”
These days, I couldn’t spend half of that, and if I did, you would probably find me at the morgue on Monday.

there waas an article abotu a ‘hermit’ a week or so ago- but i don’t think his ‘home’ burned down? He was just being kicked off because there was no access road and no plumbing/septic, and because the owner wanted him off the land
sorry- meant ot ask- is this the same fella?
Same guy. His cabin “mysteriously” burned down while he was in jail.
DANG! Do you know if they have any suspects? I am betting that noone will ever be charged-
Last I heard there were no suspects.
The owner did not even know he was there, until a zoning officer from the town informed him of the hermit's existence, and said it might be trouble for the owner because of zoning violations.
Zoning is how local elites exert tyrannical control.
Buy his own property in the woods or rebuild at one of the 20 locations that have been offered to him?
Being an old dirt bag pays off!
Ya think maybe the owner decided to do some land clearing on his own property? Seems to me he’d be within the law.
Could be, although he’d also risk burning up a bunch of his timber in what is supposed to be a scenic area. As far as I know, he’s not a suspect so far.
Yes, it burned down while he was in jail. I don’t think I have seen a cause named yet.
“What’s an 80 year old want with $180,000”
The same thing a 73 year old (me) or you would want with $180K
Exchange it for various other things more useful than bits of paper.
The same thing a 73 year old (me) or you would want with $180K
Exchange it for toilet paper? lol (because of the ‘pandemic’ toilet paper shortage )
Maybe with his free handout he won’t go around mooching off others all the time.
