A subset of COVID survivors are suffering from an unexpected side effect known as parosmia, a condition that causes their sense of smell to go haywire. Coffee smells like sewage and chicken smells like rotting garbage. Yara set out to learn how COVID is doing this to people, and what life is like when you smell and taste all the wrong things with no end in sight

The second time I had covid was in Jan 2021. Today I kept smelling sewage when there was nothing that should have caused that.
Of course that is correct. I was thinking at the natural chemical compounds vs artificial chemical compounds and did not express it well. Sort of like how the work “organic” is misused today.
Pretty sure I had it from about Jan 4-5, 2020 until about the 25th. Truck driver. Even though I felt headachy, kinda heavy in the chest, followed by not quite sick to my stomach, w/a fever the first week or so, I kept working. I even pushed myself to defiantly do some exercise inspite of feeling fatigued. All along I figured it was some flu that I hadn’t had before. It was a few days later it was ccpflu news 24/7.
A few weeks ago my husband and I were in a shop sniffing various hand-made soaps and we realized that both of us had some odd olfactory changes but they didn't affect the same fragrances. I've always loved lavender but I don't smell it as well as before. Likewise lemon. I've also noticed that sour cream doesn't taste as intense as it used to. I keep challenging my sense of smell to help re-establish any neural links that I can. The only good thing to report is that skunks don't smell as bad either. They smell odd and sulfurous but not horrendous. They like to live under the shed at our cottage and this summer I don't detect them at all. I doubt they moved out!
It sure seems like a weight loss opportunity.
Just sayin’.
My wife and I, both in our sixties, had it in January/February of 2020 before it had a name and survived it without doctor visits or drugs, and I have the IgG and IgM antibodies to prove it. None of that shit happened to us.

I do believe you are right on target as NAC is a precursor to glutathione. Amazon quit handling it after the FDA got after them but there are still some other places you can get it. NAC by increasing your glutathione level will help to increase your resistance against a variety of viruses. Always take NAC with at least two to three times as much C. Attached is a run down on NAC.
N-Acetyl Cysteine
N-Acetyl Cysteine (NAC) is a metabolite of the sulfur-containing amino acid, Cysteine. Cysteine is found in high protein foods, N-Acetyl Cysteine is not. N-Acetyl Cysteine is produced within the human body. Cysteine plays a role in the sulfation cycle, acting as a sulfur donor in phase II detoxification and as a methyl donor in the conversion of homocysteine to methionine. Cysteine also helps synthesize glutathione, one of the body’s most important natural antioxidants and detoxifiers. N-Acetyl-Cysteine is the acetylated form of L-Cysteine.
N-Acetyl Cysteine increases Glutathione Levels
N-Acetyl Cysteine is rapidly metabolized to intracellular glutathione. Glutathione acts as a powerful antioxidant in the body. Glutathione also detoxifies chemicals into less harmful compounds. N-Acetyl Cysteine also protects the body from acetaminophen toxicity and is used in hospitals for patients with acetaminophen poisoning. It has also been shown to be effective at treating liver failure from other causes as well.
N-Acetyl Cysteine Chelates Heavy Metals
Heavy metals like lead, mercury and arsenic are detoxified and removed from the body by N-Acetyl Cysteine . It also increases the excretion of zinc and other essential minerals when taken over an extended period. It is therefore necessary to supplement zinc, copper and other trace minerals when taking N-Acetyl Cysteine.
N-Acetyl Cysteine and the Immune System
Glutathione is known to aid in the transport of nutrients to lymphocytes and phagocytes, two major classes of immune cells, and to protect cell membranes. While purified glutathione is available as a dietary supplement, absorption is low, and N-Acetyl Cysteine is thought to be a better method of boosting cellular glutathione levels. N-Acetyl Cysteine is being investigated as a treatment for AIDS.
N-Acetyl Cysteine Breaks up Mucus
N-Acetyl Cysteine cleaves disulfide bonds by converting them to two sulfhydryl groups. This action results in the breakup of mucoproteins in lung mucus, reducing their chain lengths and thinning the mucus, improving conditions such as bronchitis and flu. Double-blind research has found that N-Acetyl Cysteine supplements improved symptoms and prevented recurrences in people with chronic bronchitis. N-Acetyl Cysteine at a dosage of 1,200 mg per day helps to prevent Influenza infection, reduces the symptoms of existing Influenza infection and reduces the duration of Influenza infections.
N-Acetyl Cysteine and Cancer
N-Acetyl CysteineN-Acetyl Cysteine has been shown to reduce the proliferation of certain cells lining the colon and may reduce the risk of colon cancer in people with recurrent polyps in the colon. Its action as an antioxidant and a glutathione precursor may also contribute to a protective effect against cancer.
N-Acetyl Cysteine Cautions
When taking N-acetyl cysteine it is recommended that two to three times as much vitamin C be taken at the same time. Failure to do so may result in more harm than good from taking this product because of the prolonged presence of the oxidized form of L-Cysteine. The vitamin C also helps keep the glutathione that is produced from the Cysteine in its reduced form so that it can continue acting as an antioxidant.
N-Acetyl Cysteine Dosage
Typical dosage recommendations are in the range of 250-1500mg of NAC daily for the majority of therapeutic benefits.
N-Acetyl Cysteine Safety
NAC is considered safe for consumption in its therapeutic dosage ranges. Individual reactions may vary and anyone experiencing adverse symptoms while taking N-Acetyl Cysteine should discontinue it.
Where to Get N-Acetyl Cysteine
Available from Pure Bulk vitamins
In regards to losing your smell, you may consider supplementing with ZINC.
I didn’t watch the video, nor have I seen what I’m about to suggest posted at FR anywhere. At the time it was merely a correlation, but now I’m wondering if it’s more, particularly with this type of propaganda:
“While there is still no evidence indicating that COVID-19 vaccinations can cause prion-related diseases, the VAERS database now reports a very small number of relevant cases (ex. Alzheimer’s type dementia, multiple sclerosis, neurological symptoms). The number of reported cases for these symptoms were mostly in the single digits (occasionally in the teens), out of over 100 million people in the U.S. who received at least one vaccine dose, so it is incredibly rare for neurological issues to be reported after COVID-19 vaccination.”
Why are mRNA vaccines an unlikely cause of any neurodegenerative diseases?
I suggest those who have suffered the symptom of loss of smell carefully record their pre & post virus health symptoms in a detailed health journal.
I do not suggest this flippantly: Prion disease affects the olfactory nerves and the symptom could very well be a symptom of its onset, a condition which may lie dormant for decades.
There are many studies on the topic, including this
The olfactory bulb as the entry site for prion-like propagation in neurodegenerative diseases
https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0969996116302947
I mention my thoughts - originating sometime back in April as the side effects of the so-called ‘vaccines’ started to get leaked out - out of concern for FReepers’ well being due to this recent article (which validated my prior thoughts):
SARS-CoV-2 spike protein interactions with amyloidogenic proteins: Potential clues to neurodegeneration
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC7988450/
And this prior paper I came across at the height of the ‘vaccines’ controversy
Repetitive Immunization Enhances the Susceptibility of Mice to Peripherally Administered Prions
https://journals.plos.org/plosone/article?id=10.1371/journal.pone.0007160
I do not believe that a moderated infection for natural immunity may prove dangerous to the patient (i.e., application of safe & effective treatments), but I believe that the ‘vaccines’ themselves may harbor an insidious secret which may not manifest for months, years or decades in some people. This is not to say that all other hypotheses on the long term effects of these shots or severe infection are off-base, but that this may explain some lingering mysteries.
Go ahead and label it BS; I truly hope I’m wrong, but things are quickly starting to add up, including many of our suspicions on both the motivations for compelling these shots and the manufactured spike protein itself.

Crazy!!! Never smelled weird smells.
I know that guy.
Just throwing this in here. I had Covid and was sick from it in November 2020. I had intense body pains and fever and utter fatigue. But I already was nasal irrigating every day and I upped that once I got Covid. (Neil Med nasal bottles with their salt packet, warm water, and about a half tsp of apple cider vinegar. ). Once I got Covid I immediately started nebulizing 4x a day with food grade hydrogen peroxide diluted in sterile water as well, which keeps the virus out of the lungs. It did.
I never lost my sense of smell and taste. I had no appetite for the week I was sick in bed but I never lost the sense of smell others talk about. I think the nasal irrigation kept the virus from doing that to me. Just a thought.
The only good thing to report is that skunks don’t smell as bad either. They smell odd and sulfurous but not horrendous.
This means that if the cat got Covid, she finally might hook up with Pepe le Pew after all!!
Quercetin can be bought at HSN. Andrew Lessman says his has something that males it more absorbable. You can take gluthathione instead of NAC.
If you can’t find quercetin, EGCG helps zinc too.
I have not heard of someone catching covid twice. Lucky you. Lol.
Aside from my husband and myself, I know a could other people who caught it twice.
NOT lucky us, LOL.
I caught a mild, but “regular” head cold a month or so back - and let me tell you - there is a HUGH difference in the way it “felt” compared to covid. It felt “normal”. In the way that you would know the difference between eating a real apple and eating a wax apple, no way to confuse the two.
A couple of other people - who caught it twice
