A subset of COVID survivors are suffering from an unexpected side effect known as parosmia, a condition that causes their sense of smell to go haywire. Coffee smells like sewage and chicken smells like rotting garbage. Yara set out to learn how COVID is doing this to people, and what life is like when you smell and taste all the wrong things with no end in sight

I had Covid in October and still don’t have a sense of smell or taste.

A woman I work with who had the Wuhan told me that all strong smells smell ‘chemical’ or like medicine. This was months after she recovered.

Lost my sense of taste & smell back when I had the rona last September.
Trying to eat a piece of buttered toast was liking eating cardboard.....terrible.
After the rona, it took me about 2-3 weeks to get my sense of taste and smell back. I was on 600mg of NAC with 3000IU of C, 5000IU of D3, 500mg Quercetin and 50mg Zinc and a tad of K2. Sounds like a lot but it did the job for me....I’m still here and kicking.
Also, I used Drip Drop hydration powder to avoid dehydration. That stuff was a godsend for me.

I had mold for about 5 months and it’s been cigarettes for about 4. Still happens, but thankfully comes and goes.

We just don't hear about it much.

Yes. Other viruses don't have a press agent working 24/7/365.

Wife and I had it back in January. I had no symptoms, she lost taste and smell. Her senses came back slowly, taste is still not like it was, and she still smells phantom smells that smell like sewer (though she blames me for that......)

I was on 600mg of NAC with 3000IU of C, 5000IU of D3, 500mg Quercetin and 50mg Zinc and a tad of K2.

I’m on most of that and have been for months but what is NAC and how do I get Quercetin?

Thanks if you can help.

As we age does our sense of smell change? I haven’t had covid as far as I know and I haven’t experienced any of the dramatic changes these symptoms are but I do think my sense of smell has changed since I was younger. Subtle but somewhat different.

If you have a thiamine deficiency (vitamin B-1) you can get the same symptoms as C-19: loss of smell, taste, neurological spasms, eventually pneumonia and hypoxia.

Below is a study of loss of smell from C-19 and how it was remedied with B-vitamins.

Abstract
Rationale:
A sudden onset of anosmia has been recently recognized as a symptom of coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

Patient concerns:
Here, we describe a case of complete anosmia in a young male with COVID-19. Although he had fever and odynophagia, no abnormalities were observed in his nasopharyngeal mucosa, suggesting that his anosmia resulted from olfactory neuropathy.

Diagnoses:
COVID-19 was confirmed by RNA detection in nasopharyngeal swab specimen.

Interventions:
The patient received olfactory training and B complex vitamins.

Outcomes:
On day 30, the patient reported complete recovery of his sense of smell.

Lessons:
As early diagnosis is fundamental to control the spread of COVID-19 infection, we emphasize that anosmia identified in febrile cases during the COVID-19 epidemic may be a symptom indicative of the disease. Moreover, COVID-19-related anosmia can be completely reversible.

“..I’m on most of that and have been for months but what is NAC and how do I get Quercetin?..”

NAC is N-Acetyl Cysteine. It’s an antioxidant that helps your respiratory system to stay healthy. In fact, it works so well, Biden wants to make it “prescription only”. He such a heckuva nice guy and wants to do whatever he an to make Americans stay “healthy”. /s One can still find it online. We purchased some more just this morning as we’re trying to stock a little of it up on it before they pull it off the shelves..
Quercetin is used in place of HCQ. Think of Quercetin as the gun and zinc as the bullet to get it into the cells. It’s an enzyme and antioxidant flavonoid to support healthy respiratory function It, too, can be purchased online.
FWIW, I’ve never found either one available at local drugstores etc.

I know a guy who got hit in the head and all processed food smells like chemicals.

Was in a car accident a few years ago and it took almost a year for some food and beverages to -taste- “normal”. Diet soda tested like what PineSol smells like. Certain teas had no flavor at all.

I never lost my taste but everything I put in my mouth tasted like a spoon full of salt for several days. I was sick with the Wuhan for three weeks.
