Some of what he is saying seems contradictory

the current vaccines provide about 50-60% efficacy in protection from infection. They are not fully protective.

So he is still admitting that the vaccines have some effectiveness.

if you are vaccinated and become infected (“breakthrough”), the virus will replicate at the same or higher levels than if you were unvaccinated and then become infected.

The Delta variant has a mutation that allows it to infect cells more easily. It's known the nasal viral load is magnitude of order higher than the orginal alpha variant. But this is true of vaccinated and unvaccinated.

if you are vaccinated and then become infected, your risk of transmitting virus to someone else is quite high – remember, the Ro measures how likely you are to transmit the virus.

Yes, because of the higher viral loads and the ease with which Delta infects, Delta is more infections for both vaccinated and unvaccinated. The only increased risk I see for the vaccinated to transmit is that they may be out and about more and may not feel the symptoms as much.

if you are vaccinated and then become infected, your risk of developing severe disease or dying is better than if you were not vaccinated and then become infected with Delta.

That seems to be contradictory to what I'm hearing. Delta despite the higher viral loads is killing fewer people, and fewere still among the vaccinated. Plus it ignores his first statement that the vaccines are 50-60% protective.

Needs more explanation and needs to produce data.

This article is misinterpreting what he wrote, admittedly he could've phrased it differently: "your risk of developing severe disease or dying is better"

I think he's trying to say you have less risk of developing severe disease but wrote it awkwardly.
