Some things have to been seen to be believed and cannot be adequately described.
It is not the military that negotiates with heads of state, with opposing guvmints. It is the state department. So when the question becomes who was doing the negotiating and it “sounds like it depends on the taleban”, that is no longer a military question so you see the guy take a flyer.
It’s not like they ask the state dept. guys what caliber of ordinance is being used to blow our enemies sky high.
