Yes, the exit was horrid, but GWB started the nation/ democracy building BS that trapped us there. Sorry, GWB is to blame. Even Trump had difficulty trying to figure a way out saving face and preserving the idea that our troops did not die in vain.
There’s an old expression that applies here:
Things are easier to get into than they are to get out of.

It occurs to me that there are three choices in dealing with oppressed people in foreign lands.
1. ignore them
2. fix up their nation (nation building)
3. bring the oppressed into this country.
I’m afraid that we’re switching from #2 to #3.
Maybe there’s a #4.
