MANILA, Philippines — People vaccinated against COVID-19 could avail of flu and pneumonia shots “anytime or a week after” their first dose or second dose regardless of the coronavirus jab brand.
Dr. Donald Ray Josue, vaccines medical director of GSK Philippines, said last Wednesday that getting flu shots may potentially have benefits against COVID-19. He said that COVID-19 patients who were vaccinated against flu had less severe symptoms and were less likely to consult emergency departments in health facilities.

Getting a flu shot may come with an added benefit: protection against severe coronavirus infection.
That’s the conclusion researchers made from a review of nearly 75 million COVID-19 patient records from around the globe, which found those who received a flu vaccine up to six months before getting infected were less likely to have a stroke, experience sepsis or develop blood clots caused by the disease.
Coronavirus patients vaccinated against influenza were also less likely to visit the emergency department and be admitted to the intensive care unit, according to new research presented online during the European Congress of Clinical Microbiology & Infectious Diseases.
The data showed that COVID-19 patients who did not get their flu shots were more likely to be admitted to the ICU (up to 20%), visit the emergency department (up to 58%), have a stroke (up to 58%), develop sepsis (up to 45%) and develop blood clots (up to 40%).
The risk of death, however, was not reduced among those who were recently vaccinated against the flu.

Why would I want to get a shot that gives me pneumonia?
The main reason why you might want a flu shot is because flu and covid are out there. Thus, if you get a respiratory virus, you can probably rule out the flu and assume covid.
Any ancillary side effects against covid would be a bonus.
right, and pneumonia shot may be useful as pneumonia is complication of Covid it makes sense.
I misunderstood title. I thought the question was when to get the anti-vaccine shot.
Caution. The flu vaccine from 2017-2018 increased likelihood of getting Covid by around 35%.
Fauci has said ‘we may combine’ the Covid vaccine with the flu vaccine. I don’t see how we can trust them with needles anymore...
Hi can you tell me where you got that 35% number?
According to the numbers the flu doesn’t exist when covid is present so why the need for both?
I’m not taking either shot. Those sneaky bass turds will slip the GMO poison into the shot.
Oh, it’s out there...

But it’s not being mentioned for some strange reason.
Check out which state has the most flu flu activity...
Just got third civic shot. Dr told me to wait until end of Sept to get flu shot
Are you one of those “make D.C. the 51st state” people?
Have any of the pharmaceutical companies conducted any studies on how the COVID vacs interact with flu medications? Prescription drugs?
I went to get my 2nd pneumonia shot the other day. Had the 1st of the 2 parter right at a year ago. Medicare wouldn’t pay for it. Said I had it in 2013. What?!?! Pharmacist called Medicare. They couldn’t say where I had it, lol, but their computer shows I had it in 2013. Pharmacist said how can that be, she just had the first one a year ago. Guess who won? I guess I’m not getting the 2nd shot. 🤷♀️
