Return to office?! HE** NO!

What if a large employer with oh, say 25,000+ Global Employees sent a poll out asking who wants to return to office in September?

And what if that poll included a statement that said anyone wanting to return to office would be required to sign a waiver, stating if they contract the China Virus they cannot hold the company responsible?

How many people would say "Yes! I want to return to office in September?"

More specifically, how many of those Global Employees, of which approximately 10,000 are Chicago based would say "Yes?"

As it turns out, here in the Chicago area that number is exactly ... ZERO.

Not necessarily because of the China Virus and to some degree, not because of the waiver.

It's the VIOLENCE, stupid!

None of us want to go back to CHICAGO because of the violence. Not just the murder rate, the VIOLENCE. The under-reported/un-reported muggings, beatings, robberies and more that happen inside the "loop" known as the Downtown Chicago business district.

So who in HR & Legal thought this "poll" was a good idea, and are they going to re-issue the poll for cold and flu season?

I mean c'mon --- if the company doesn't want to be held liable for someone contracting the China Virus, which has a 99.99625% or better rate of survival then why not require a waiver for colds? Flu? Allergy season?

Why not? If we can use that to stay away from the office to avoid illness, why can't we vote to continue working from home because we don't want to risk subjecting ourselves to the lawlessness of Shitcago?

Some people are figuring out that salaries are equal or better compared to the cost of living in much safer places than Chicago.

Live better and safer away from Crime Capitals.

Similarly, employees who mandate the experimental vaccine as a condition of employment should sign a document accepting financial responsibility for any adverse effects that the employee may incur.

100% agree. Not worried about getting or transmitting covid in the office, it’s the violence on the commuter train. Of course, can’t say that to management - we’ve been told that “safety” is a white privilege we should not expect - have to put concerns in terms of covid-fear so that’s what we tell management.

Probably wrong. I would expect that if polled the large majority would say they don't want to go back to the office because they enjoy working in shorts and a tee shirt, or they don't miss the time the commute takes, or they like not spending the ungodly amount of money for gas to pay for driving in, or other such perfectly valid reasons.

A couple of points for clarification:

We didn’t ask for full time return, just 2 days a week. Several people have not come in for almost a year since we did that.

We know who is productive and who isn’t. Mostly it is the ones working remotely never coming in. The most productive tend to be those on hybrid schedules.

We have found ways to monitor how people try to game the system remotely. High incidence of mobile only usage for Microsoft Teams for example. Little proactive contact, only reactive when you reach out to them. Which indicates many are only making themselves available if called at times, not doing enough proactive work.

We have noticed that deadlines are met less frequently for collaborative projects, when a high percentage are remote workers.

Typical Shiitehead I would never have anything to do with, in any capacity.

If you valued your employees, you wouldn’t require them to get The Jab. You would FIRE those that wanted to push everyone else to get it.
You want it? Get it. You wanna mask, wear it? You wanna try and come to an agreement on alternative work/site/place/setting/hours/days etc . . .? Been with us a while? Good work record? if it’s possible, and you can make still money for us, sure let’s talk about it.

Jab or Job is Nazi tactics.

We haven’t required any vaccinations, so I really don’t understand why you are saying this. We just started voluntary office work to see who would bother to come in at least once or twice a week.

We aren’t going to get rid of productive people - the main point is we know now based on what we have been tracking - the full time, never come in remote people have not been nearly as productive as those that are coming in a couple of times a week. It is a measurable fact! Vaccinations have nothing to do with it.

I believe I read somewhere in the last few weeks we have the second or third highest gas prices in the country so I won’t argue with you there. I also won’t argue with you about the horrific commute times which are the second highest in the country.

There are so many personal benefits to working from home it’s not even funny. Many people will be so spoiled with this it’ll be hard for them to go back even part-time, but especially full-time.

- wake up later, go to bed later
- save on gas
- save on transportation time/no risk of car accidents
- not having to deal with the nightmare that is public transport
- work in your pajamas and not even having to be showered
- not having to put on your ‘game face’ with coworkers in person all day, every day.
- getting more errands done during the day on lunch break
- getting in exercise when you normally couldn’t
- and most importantly, in the case of Chicago or any other Democrat paradise, not getting jumped downtown by an ‘oppressed’ person of color (or a criminal/bum of any color), although heaven help you if you tell your employer that

It’s not logical, but some people like the clear distinction between work and home.

I'm typically mentally exhausted by the end of the day! At times it takes almost everything I have left to go from the home office to the sofa and take a nap!

I also work the time I'd normally be commuting back and forth, so shame on me for that. I need to stop doing that.

Perhaps management wanted the poll to prove that no one, including themselves but couldn’t say so out loud, that no one wants to come back to the office. Even management can see the violence, and therefore are reluctant to risk their lives as well.
