Own a ‘85 MBZ 300D that is in very nice condition. Occasionally show it in local car shows. Not nearly as sexy as this ‘38 MBZ roadster thought ...
Let’s hear it for Nazi slave labor...”Sieg Heil!”
That’s a beautiful automobile.
So, how many Q-Tips & chamois were sacrificed to the effort for this trophy? Not just this car but for all of the contenders! Kudos to all of the contenders but I’ll be happy with just taking my car through the car wash when it is needed.
The white sporty-looking job that was sitting to its right before the Merc ‘stepped forward” appears to be a 1966 Ferrari 365 P Berlinetta. It was Ferrari’s first mid-engined road car (Enzo famously preferred a front-engine layout, often remarking that “the horse pulls the cart”) and also is a 3-seater. Like the 1992 McLaren F1, the driver’s seat and controls are slap in the middle with the and the two passenger seats flanking and somewhat aft of the driver’s station. In the video you can barely see the steering wheel — right in the middle of the car, just behind the single center-mounted windshield wiper — barely peeking over the dash.
And only examples two were ever built. And if it’s in concours condition, if it were on offer it obviously would fetch eight figures.
Cruella deVille totaled the only other known example.
