Believe it or not, whether they "work" or not isn't the real point. The issue is that a jury in a civil trial is likely to rule against a company that doesn't demonstrate that they've taken "ordinary" protective measures in the event the employer is sued after a COVID outbreak.

Many of these employers have probably been advised by their lawyers that the risk of doing nothing is greater than the risk of doing ANYTHING (even if it doesn't work).

It would be workers compensation. There is no jury.

Exactly—this is lawyer driven. The added bonus is that many attorneys are Democrats, as is the BAR, so they are likely pushing this in he direction that the party wants. Lawyers are behind much of how we live.
